wich on account of the death of
her little grandson, has returned
home.
Miss Margaret MacLennan came up
from Toronto on Tuesday and vis-•
ited friends before going on to
Lucknow.
Pte. Ray Granton, who has just
returned from overseas, has been,
visiting his mother, Mrs. Vim,
Stanley of town.
Mr. IJ' Bean of Toledo, Ohio, has been(
visiting bis mother in town during
the past week. He was accompan-
ied by his little son. ..
Miss Gertrude Wallis returned Sat-
urday from bake Couchach'ng,
where she had been attending a
Y.W.C.A. conference for ten days,
Mr. Ernest Livermore went to'
Hariock to the garden party on
Friday evening last and remained
over the week -end with friends
there.
Mr. and Mrs. Hiram Hill and their
daughter, Mrs. H. K. Thompson,
and her little son Richard of Sas-
katoon were visitors in Parkhill on
Sunday.
Mrs. Sharman, who has been spend-
ing several weeks with her brother
in Goderich township, is this week
with her sister, Miss Jennie Holm-
es of town.
Miss Bessie Irwin, deaconess in Moun-
tain street Methodist church, Mon-
treal, Quebec, is holidaying at the
home of. her parents, Mr. and Mrs,
J. A. Irwin.
Mr, and Mrs, G, C, Laithwaite of
Edinburgh, N. Dak,, who have been
visiting the latter's mother, Mrs.
H. Murphy of Goderich township,
spent the week -end with friends
in town.
Mrs, John McKenvie and two sons,
Jack and Bert, of Regina and Mr,
and Mrs, Geo, McKenzie of Lamp -
man, Sask,, are visiting their
parents, Mr. and Mrs. T, McKen-
zie of town.
Miss Mary Southcombe left Monday,
morning for a trip to the west.
She will visit her brother at
Carievale, Alta,, and other friends;
en route and will probably be ab-
sent two or three months.
Miss Margaret Davies, who has been
laboring as a deaconess of the
ME, Church in Portland,• Orgeon,
for some years, arrived on Friday
and is visiting at the home of her
parents, Mr. and liIrs. Geo, Davies
of Huron street.
Mrs. G. E. Stotts of Detroit, was in
town last week, having come over
with her sister, Mrs. ,Jas. Twitch -
el], on the Greyhound. They were
among the unfortunate ones who
missed the boat on its return
trip and had to go home by train,
Mr. R. Bell and his son Will left for
Toronto on Saturday, the former
returning Monday, Will, who has
just finished a business course at
the School of Commerce, started
work as a stenographer at a good
salary on Monday at the Union
Station,
Rev. S.: E. McKegney, M.C., goes to
Brantford on Saturday and will
preach there on Sunday morning
and evening, and in the afternoon
will speak at the unveiling of a
memorial tablet in Paris, • on the
invitation of the G.W.V,A• of that
town,
Mr. and Mrs, K, W. Cilowen and lit-
tle Miss Bettie of Hamilton have,
been visiting in town, They had
been in Goderich for a week and
Mrs, Chowen and daughter are
spending some time in Bayfield:
Mr. Chowen returned to Hamilton
en Monday,
Mrs, Stewart Macpherson and chil-
dren and Miss Dean, who were vis-
iting the, former's sister, Mrs. Nel-
son Bali, last week, left Friday for
Toronto. They wore afraid of a
general railway strike and Uioughii
they, had better get home to
Northern Ontario while things were
normal,
