We do not doubt that this is true
to a great extent. The stock of
.foodstuffs all over the world is low
and must be replenished, But we be-
lieve there is great need for the
Government to interfere to the ex-
tent of preventing the cold storage
people from manipulating the mar-
kets for their own financial advan-

Potatoes in their skins in order to

hundreds of tons of chickens, some
,of which had been in cold storage
since 1914, were destroyed because they
'lead become unfit for food. It v c,ul'd
be interesting to know just .how
many tons of food have been wan-
tonly wasted in this country during
-the past five years by the cold star --
age people, who seem to consider it
quite legitimate to gamble with food
supplies and who will continue doing
so until the Government steps in and
stops it.

Pte. "Gordon Holman, son of Coun-
ty Clerk G. W. Mohnen, arrived

'I ]man enlisted in the fall of 1914,
went overseas the next year and had
:been in the trenches from the first of
,September, 1915. He was in the
fighting to the end of the war, talc -
dm part in all the engagements of
the 1st :Battalion, to which he be-
longed, Ypres, the Somme, Vimy
.Ridge, illniens, 'Passchendaele, Arras
:and.Mons—these are some of the out-
zstanding tarries of his career as a sol -

Suddenly Called

business in town and just about to

dropped dead upon the street.

most of the time for over a Week

to have adjusted, and his son drove
him out. }lie business had been
arranged and his son drove up• be-
side the curb in front of Munro'S
barber shop and had stopped to al-
low his fatherto, got into the buggy
when he suddenly fell to • the side-
walk. las son was at his side in an
instant and others coming up he was
carried into the barber shop and a
physician called but ' life was ex-
tinct, t1he, probability' being that ho
was dead before he fell, Heart
trouble was the cause, he having
been suffering with Ifs heart previ-
ously,
The late Mr. Sundercock was a son
of the late 'Thomas. Sundercoek of
Mullett and was, born' and spent all
his lift] in that township, having been
for about forty years a resident on
the 8th concession. He was ;i ]Meth-
odist in religion, being a member of
Constance church, and was a man
very highly esteemed in the commun-
ity in which he lived.
Just one week ago Friday his wife
died at the home of her daughter at
WValkervillo, whero she had g,ue for
treatment a few weeks ago. Air. Sun-
dereock had been down to visit her a
short time before her death but was
unable, _owing to illness himself, to
be with her when the end came. '1'11e
remains were brought home for in-
terment the funeral taking place on .
Monday of last week.
Much sympathy is felt for the
fancily, who aro thus bereaved of
both their parents in the space of a
week. Charles, the youngest boy,
who is the only one at home, is es-
pecially sympathized -with at
this
time. The other members of the
family are : Airs. William Hughes of
Dauphin, Man., Mrs. William Wey-
mouth, Wallcerville and Wilson Sun-
dereock of Walton. Three brothers,
Thomas aid William of Manitoba,
and Nathaniel of Staulo township,

and one sister, Mrs. J. Smith of
Wh.itemouth, Sask., also survive.
The funeral -took place on Monday
from the family residence on the
8th concession. The services were
conducted by the Rev. Mr. Sawyer
and the pallbearers were the same as
those who officiated at the funeral of
hVIrs, Sandercock, namely : Robert
and Thos. Rogerson, ,lames Fairser-
vice, Wm, Carter, W. Hesk and Al-
bert
..
Weymouth. The remains were
laid beside those of 'leis wife, who
was buried just one week before,' in
Londesboro cemetery,
Amongst those who were present
from a distance were : Mr. and Mrs.
Curtis and Messrs. 'Tremoare, l4ft-
chell ; Mr., and Sirs. T. Parhner,
Ilensel]. and Mr. and Mrs. A. Wilken,
Clinton.
The Sons of England, Londesboro,
of which society deceased was a
member, sent a very handsome
wreath, also the Constance Method-
ist church, ot whin!' he was an ot-
ficial member; besides the family and
other friends,

homes on the Babylon Line. -
