adherents of St. John's church and
Brusselites generally, were sorry to
hear that in less than a month Rev, Mr,
Mess will remove from Brussels having
accepted the parish of St. David in East
London. He is already acquainted with
the work, which is in a growing part of
the city and will no doubt do well. Mr.
Mess is not bettering himself financially •
but he feels that as a young man it is
his duty to take hold of this compara-
tively new parish and aid in its develop
meet. Who his successor will be has not
been definitely settled. It is only 5
months since Rev. Mr. Mess came to
Brussels but he has done good work
and looked forward to a longer resid-
ence in town.

As stated last week Mr. Samuel Castle
a resident of Clinton for 40 years pass
ed away last Thursday maiming, after
na illness, of a month, though in ill
health all summer. Deceased was born
in Stotfold, Bedfordshire, England 81
years ago. lie was married there and
with a family of six children came to
Canada le 1889, Three other children
were born here and of a family of nine

Edward of Clinton, Herbert. of Gocler-
ich Twp, James and .Mrs.Geo. E. 130es-
leY of Ontario California. Mre, Castle
passed away 6 years ago. The funeral
was held cm Saturday and the services
were conducted by Rev. S, Anderson of
Ontario St. Methodist church of which
deceased WAS a member. The late Mr,
Castle Was ail iiPright.man and had up
to this year Always been an active one.

'Town Council Holds
An Important Session
Those who witnessed the parade on
Clinton celebration last August will re-
member the dray load of "Men'repres-
entleg the Town Council, met on Tues

ion. Here are the minutes.
The "Town Council of Aug 2nd" met
Tuesday evening et the home of Mr.
and Mrs. Adam McCartney with the
Mayor in the chair and all councillors
present with their wives" with the ex-
ception of one, who was unavoidably
absent through illness. After partaking
of a hot fowl Supper the regular busi-
ness was gone through with that of
setting things, to rights etc. minutes of
meeting were read and adopted. A re-
quest came from the Night Chief for
an increase of Salary which was freely
granted.
A complaint was lodged by Pro-
perty owners regarding cats running
at large, with bells and blue ribbons on,
and it was decided that cruelty comm.
