Office Department that the increase to
ten cents In the registration fee for let-
ters will come into effect on July 15,
This increase was provided for in the
amendments to the Postoffice Act which
was passed! by Parliament recently,

Stamp Tax Effective.
Stratford Beacon:—Mr. T. S. Tobin,
deputy collector of inland, revenue, re
delved instruction from the Department
at Ottawa, that the amendments to the
Special War Revenue Apt were assented
to on July 1st 1920 and that the stamp
tax on promissory notes, bills of ex-
change, bank overdrafts and stock
transfers became effective from that
date.
Mrs. Kilty Dead.
After it serious illness of the past
month or so Margaret Jane Watkins,
widow of the late Rev. Geo. M. Kilty
passed away at her home on Monday
at the age of 62 years, 2 months and 14
days. She is survived by two daughters
and two sons, and u sister Mrs R. Drap
er of town and two brothers on the
Base line. The funeral was held on Wed-
nesday afternoon, Rev. S, E. McKegney
conducting the services,
Samuel Cantelon Passed Away.
A Saving Of $18.75.
The reduction in the Hydro lightning
for June gave the Town a saving of,
$16.75 which will mean $225 in the

Keeper J. Reynolds of Huron County
Home took a trip down Into the South-
ern part of the County and purchased
a pair of fine sorrel horses acted 4 and
1 5 years and got them home on Wednes-

drove them up town, and they were well
looked over. The flew Era would not be
surprised to see the Keeper and Inspect-
or taking In the County Fairs with their
Agricultural team and we believe they
will be first prize winners to start with.

new field of duty at Essex.. Their many
friends will all hope that success may

expected that a Lieutenant will come

Robertson—Munro Wedding
The home of Mrs. Bessie L. Munro
,Durham was the scene of a quiet weds
ding at noon Wednesday when her daug
hter Jessie Winnifred became the wit's
of Lorne Forbes Robertson M. D. only
son of Dr. and Mrs. J. A. Robertsonµ of
Stratford. The ceremony was perform-
ed by Dr. Martin pastor of Knox Church
Stpatford in the presence of only Mimed
late relatives and friends, Mrs. Robert
son who is a graduate of the Stratford
General Hospital, was overseas with
the American Army and since returs-
itag has been engaged in special recon
struction work in Chicago. Dr. and
Mrs. Robertson will take a, short motor
trip through the, Eastern States, return- I
ing to the "Elms," Stratford in about
a week or ten 'days.

grandfather, Mr. G. Latimer who has
reached the honored age of ninety-
eight years while Dr. Vernon,Fisk play
ed the wedding march, The bride wore

'crepe with touches of gold embroidery
and tulle veil caught beneath a cap of
orange blossoms and gold lace. She car-
ried a shower bouquet of Oplielia ros-
es, swansonea and golden baby orchids,
and wore the gift of the groom a plat-
inum and diamond bar pin, Her court
train lined with gold -tinted georgette
was borne by the two little pages Master
Paul Cheal and little Vivyan Cheat the
former in a quaint white L•to'n suit and
the latter in a dress and hat of Valen-
cienness, Miss Jean D, Miiiuns acted its
maid of honor; Miss Marjorie Latimer
sister of the' bride was bridesmaid. The
groom was attended by his brother, Dr
Gordon S. Foulds and the ushers were
Mr. George Eadie, cousin of the groom,
Mr, George Harry Grooms and Mr, Basil
Gilbert. During the signing of the regis
ter Miss Marjorie Latimer played a viol-
in solo. After the ceremony a reception
was held at the home of the brides moth
er 171 Westnrinister ave., later in the ev
ening Mr. and Mrs. Foulds left for Nor-
, ihern Ontario the bride travelling in e
French blue gabardine suit with taffeta
hat to match. On their return they will
make their home in Clinton.
