50 Cents -Por Hcad for Library.
• One of the most important steps
in public library development was
taken by the Ontario Legislature Fri-
day, when it- passed a bill which ‚pro-
vides that the public library of a com-

of 50 cents per head of the population.
In other words, in a city of 100,000
people, the city council will levy 350,-

Same Everywhere. -
.lt is not easy to disabuse the minds
of many. perhaps most. owners of au-
tos of the idea that when they buy a
car they acquire exclusive proprietory
rights in the public streets as well, in
their view, the responsibility of look-
ing out for their own skin rests upon
the vulgarians who walk. An occasion-
al line is sometimes a wholesale cor-
rective.
June Rod and Gun.
Bonnyeastle Dale, the well known
naturalist has written and illustrated
a ,splendid article descriptive of trap-
ping conditioixs in Rice Lake, Ontario,
during the 1919 season, This appears
in the June session of Rod and Gun
in Canada along with nine other stories
and articles dealing with the wild life
in the great out doors of the Dominion.
"The Red Gods" are calling insistently
now that grim winter snows have gone
and even if you are not in a position to
enjoy the real outing that you like,
Yon can live again the happy days of
former outings by reading the pleasur-
able narratives set down.by fellow lovers
of the wilds. The June issue of Can-
ada's national sportsmen's monthly
contians the usual high class Guns and
Ammunition, Fishing Notes, Conser-
