Mr. Harry Rance, who is a student at oronto University, is Thome for the ' vacation. Mr. Andrew McGarva spent a couple of days with old friends in Goderich last week, George Frederick Ernest Albert King of Great Britain, and Emperor of the British Empire, celebrates his 5 5th birthday to -day, The King was born at Marlborough House London, and is the second son of the late King Edward He became heir apparent to the throne on the death of his brother, th Duke of Iarence and Avondale, who died of January 14, 1892. He began his career as a cadet of the Royal navy on the training ship Britannia, when twelve years' of age. in 877 he andthii brother started upon a two years cruise round the world an experience which was renewed, a quarter of a Cen- tury later in ,1901 when as the Duke of. Cornwall and York he made a tour to .the colonies and oversea possessions of Britain on board the Ophir. He was promoted to Lieutenant in 1885 and in 1891 was made commander. God Save The King. Huron County Alliance Decides on Rally and Dr.'Grant is Invited The Executive of the Huron 'County Temperance Alliance, in session here Monday, •decydedto issue a call for a County Temperance Convention in Seaforth on June 23. The convention will be held in the afternoon, while a public meeting 11 e evening and Dr. Andrew S. Grant, head of the -Ontario Referendum Committee, is likely to be chief speaker. - • The purpose of the convention will be to organize for the Referendum, This work has already been well started .and township .organizations are busy this week.
