returned to Toronto on Wednesday af-
ter spending severalweeks with the
former's daughter, Mrs, J. L. Kerr.
• Mr. Chas. Holland returned from the
West last week after being out there
under the Domion Govt, Poultry de-
partment. He went to Ottawa on Mon-
day.
Mrs. Jas. Beattie, of Bridgeburg, and
her sister, Mrs. Rutledge, of Calgary,
were visiting old friends in town last
week. The ladies were former residents
here.
The father of Rev. James R. Menzies
M.D., D.p., who was'murdered iri China
last we'ek. b ,lobbers, conduelted a
furniture business here a good malty
years ago. , The family home was at
Ailsa Craig,
Master Ross 'Fitzsimons, eldest son
of Mr, and Mrs, Harry Pitzsimons, was
under the doctor's care for a few days
last week. He took a tumble in the
creek in S. S. Cooper's lot, near the
school one day last week. Ross stated
it was about 10 feet deep. He is al-
right now.
On Sunday, April 4th. Mr, David Bea-
com will celebrate his 93rd birthday.
A notable fact is that 5 of his family,
their ages total 420 years. Mr. Bea-
com is a smart."young" man and is on
the streets every clRy and issues a chat -
lenge to 'any of them for a foot race.
The New Era offers hearty congratula-
tions.
Miss Helena Middleton, of Toronto,
and Miss Jean Middleton, of Scorboro
Jct., are home for the Easter vacation.
Miss Helena Middleton is going to take
the 'European trip under the direction
of Jas. L. Hughes during July and Aug-
ust, They will visit Scotland, Eng-
land, Belgium, France and Switzerland.
