of Akron Ohio, are visiting at the

came by motor.

visiting his mother at Whitby,
has joined his wife in town, who
is the geust of her parents, Mr,
and Mrs. W. Doherty.

in Napanoe, Ind., after spending a
fortnight with the former's par-
ents, Mr, and Mrs. C. E. Jervis of
town, and with other friends here-
abouts.
Mr, and; Mrs. Fred Swinbank leave
today for their home at Wausau,
Wis„ •after spending a couple of
week's with the former's brother,
Mr. Walter Swinbank of the Lon-
don Road, and other friends here-
abouts. They came by motor,
Mrs. E. Walsh, has returned from
Cleveland to ,spend the summer,
She is aceompanied by tier son, Mr,
John Walsh of Olds, Alberta, Mr.
'Walsh recently disposed of his
ranch, near! Calgary, it being in-
cluded in the tract purchased by
the Prince of Wales. Mr. Walsh
Will be remembered by many old

school in Clinton and for a, time
taught school in the west but later

Owing to the necessity of supplying each customer
with 'a counter check showing the tax separately, the
demand by merchants for counter checks is being greatly
increased.
Also owing to the increase in the price of the
paper from which counter checks are made the price is
steadily increasing.
The scarcity of paper and the increased demand
will cause delay in delivery.
Those wishing counter checks should order at
once for fall delivery. Get your supply before paper
taken another jump.

nia on Monday but Mrs. Dunbar
and children are remaining for a
longer visit.

Allenford arrived Monday and are
visiting her father and brother on
the Base Line,
Mrs. James McConnell and Miss Ed.
na McCaughey have left to visit
friends in Brantford, Buffalo, To-
ronto and Stratford.
Rev. and Mrs. Donald MacLeod and
babe of Montreal are visiting at
the parental home, that of Mr. and
Mrs. Ralph Tiplady.
Mr. and Mrs. I. Rattenbury and Dr.
and Mrs. Holloway returned to
Peterboro the end of the week af-
ter a fortnight's visit in town. Mr,
and Mrs. A. J. Holloway accompan-
ied them.
Mr. Thos. Watts motored up from
Oshawa the enol of the week and
on his return was accompanied by
his wife and. family who have been
visiting at the lady's parental
home that oi,Mr. and Mrs. H. Pen-
nebaker.
Messrs. F. F. Gillies, Smith and
James, returned to Toronto on Moir
day after spending the week -end
as -the guests of Magistrate and
Mrs. Andrews. Mrs. Gillies and
Miss Marion are remaining for •a
longer visit,
Mr and Mrs, W. S. Downs accom-
panied by Mr. R. B. Carter and
Miss Eva Carter motored to Kitch-
ener on Saturday last where they
were the guests over the week -end
of Mr. and Mr's. W. C. Mead and
other -friends. Mrs. R. B. Carter
who had been the guest of her niece
for a week returned hone with the
party on Monday last, while Miss
Eva Carter is spending this week
in Waterloo, the guest of Miss HiI-
da Merrit. Friends in Stratford
were visited en route,

Notice is hereby givers to all concerned that Returns, ac-
companied by remittance OF LUXURY AND EXCISE
TAXES, must be made as follows to the local Collector
of Inland Revenue, from whom any information desired;
may be obtained.
RETURNS OF LUXURY TAX must be made on the first
and fifteenth day of each month.
RETURNS OF JEWELERS' TAX, MANUFACTURERS'
TAX AND SALES TAX must be made not later than the
last clay of the month following the month covered by
the Return.
RETURNS FOR TAXES IN ARREARS must be made
forthwith otherwise the penalty provided by kw will
be enforced.
