HULLETT COUPLE WEDDED
ON CHRISTMAS EVE.
A very pleasant event took place
at "Glen Maple Farm," the residence
of Mir. and Mrs. William Shepherd,
Hull tt, on Christmas Eve, when
their only daughter, Maggie, be-
came the bride of Mr. Ed-
ward W. Farquhar, son of
Mr. and Mrs. George Farquhar, also
of Hullett. Promptly at five o'clock,
to the strains of Lohengrin's wecf-
ding march, played by Miss Annie
Reid, the bride entered the parlor
leaning on the arm of her father.
During the ceremony the bridal
couple stood under a wedding bell
before a bank of evergreens orna-
mented with maple leaves. Tho
'bride was charmingly attired • in a
wedding gown of silk crepe -de -shone
and georgette crepe, and a handsome
veil of embroidered silk net held in
place by a wreath of orange blos-
soms. She carried a beautiful shower
bouquet of Bridal roses and ferns.
The only attendant was Miss Clara
Bali, of Clinton, cousin of the bride,
who made a charming little flower -
girl.
The ceremony was .performed by
the Rev. Janes Abery of Londes-
boro, in the presence of about forty
and during the signing of the rogis-
etr, Mrs./. Clegg of Brussels, sister
of the groom, rendered a beautiful
solo, entitled, "Because I Love You,
Dear."
At the conclusion of the ceremony,
the bridal party repaired to the din—
ing room where a suniptious wed-
ding dinner was served. A number
of the bride's girl friends assisted
in the dining room.
The bride was the receipient of
many handsome and costly gifts,
showing the esteem in which the
young couple are held. The groom's
gift to the bride was a gold wrist-
watch; to the bower girl, a pearl ring
and to the soloist and organist,
pearl ear drops.
After a pleasant social evening
had been spent, Mr .and Mrs. Far-
quhar motored to the groom's home
near Clinton leaving amid showers of
confetti -and good wishes for unalloy-
ed happiness in their hew hone.
• The bride's going away costume
was a suit of Navy blue serge, anti
taupe hat,
A large circle of friends -join in
wishing Mr. and Mrs. Farquhar a
long, happy and prosperous voyage,
as they set sail on life's sea to-
gether.

David Lougheed, n well-known
Wingham citizen, died last week at
the age of forty-iiv;. He had been
an invalid for ten yews, having in-
jured his spine by a fall, and spent
his time in a wheeled chair, ITe was
a veteran of the South African War.
Mr. Geo, Mason, who has been in
the stationary business in

for about forty yews, is retiring
and leaving the business to his son.
Mr. Chas. Garrow of Goderich has
been appointed solicitor fox the town-
ship of Morris.

Rev. D. A. Johnston who has
been pastor of the Presbyterion
church here for the bast nine years,
preached his farewell sermon on Sun-
day last. Mr. Johnston was well
liked. by the whole community and
his departure will be much regretted.
He leaves for Lucan this. week, to
take up the work there.
