Get News items. in Earlier
Nearly every week newsy notes
reach the New Era Thursday morning
and by evening rurais but that is too
late for that week's issue. We make
an effort to get to press by noon each
Thursday, and consequently the late
arrivals have to lie over until the fol-
lowing week and some of them may be
no use after that delay, Many of the
items might just as easily be in our
hands on Monday, thereby giving plen-
ty of time to get thein in type. Send
the news along, by all means, and we
are always glad to get it but speed up
the time in getting it to The New Era
and you will have our blessing.
Gets Promotion.
Clinton friends will be pleased to
learn of the promotion which has come
to Mr, W. J. May, who has held a posit-
ion on London postoffice staff for the
last ten years, In the re -organization
which has just taken place by which
London was made one of three postal
districts in Ontario. Mr, May has been
named as chief mail clerk in charge of
that branch of the work. Mr. May was a
resident of Goderich for some time
prior to 1912 while mail clerk on the
Buffalo & Goderich line. After his
narrow escape from serious injury in
a railway wreck near Stratford in which
two other Goderich citizens—Messrs,
Tye and McFarlane—lost their lives.
Mr. May was transferred to London
where he has been employed ever since.
