Death of cel''mer Clintonian.
:The death, is announced, of Mr. John
P, .Martin; aged 77, .who died on Sat-
urday, at his home, 8 Victoria Park,
Avenue Toronto, •Mr..:Martin had been
connected with •tlte Sun Hastings Loan
,and Saving Company and latter with the
Standard Reliance. Mortgage Corporat-
ion. He is survived by his widow, a
daughter Mrs: A. F. Park, Toronto, and
a brother in Winnipeg. Mr. Martin was
for several years a resident of Clinton,
having been employed as book-keeper
with the firm of Macpherson, Hovey
and Co., when the latter controlled the
Clinton -Foundry. •

Clintonitns were greatly shocked
Friday,morning about i1 o'clock to
learn of the death of Harry Rance,
'nephew of Mr, W. Jackson,., He had
been ail for a:few days- with summer
"flue" and his heart played out, Marty
was.in his twentieth year, and had.bedn
attending Toronto University previous
to the summer vacation. He .was going
•to enter the office of the Jackson Man-
ufacturing.Company,. the first of Sep»
tember. The funeral took place Mon-
day afternoon at three o'clock. The ser
vice at•tire church was conducted 'by
Rev. S. E. McKegney and at the ceme-
tery by Rev. C. Hallowell. The pall-
bearers' were comrades of the deceased
Messrs: Geo. Middleton Erskine Evans,
Alex Eagleson, Harold Manning, Foster,
Copp and, "Harold' Holmes: The sym-
pathy of the entire community goes out
to those bereaved, and especially to Mr„
and Mrs. W. Jackson, with whom lie,
