Hall, while riding on the back of Mr.
Iticock's motor cycle on the Huron

them had ever shipped milk or cream
to the firms in question. One man claim

sales, another had secured them front a
pedlar, while still another, more fortun
ate than his fellows, had the unique
explanation that the cans in his posses-
sion (which were good ones) had been
given to him. •
The practice of tnis-handling cream -

way has become altogether too general
as was stated at the trial and concerted
efforts are being made p put a stop to
it byzmeans of -legal action—the oniy

The Department of !emigration and
Colonization, in a statement issued re-
cently, says that the tourists du not re-
quire passports as a condition to entry
from Canada to 'the United States or
for the return journey. Immigrants
coming to 'Canada to work or reside
frons Germany, Austria, Hungary, Bul-
garia or Turkey are barred. The ban
does not apply to persons coming. to
Canada from these countries when be-
longing to the non-immigrant class.

Goderich Signal:—On Tuesday the
Purity Flour team journeyed to 'Clin-
ton to play their first game of the sea-
son in that burg. Due chiefly fp the

win by' the score of 6 to 4. Cooper

misses and a wild throw chalked up
against him, The., Purity Flour team

Ramsay at first, McLeod shortstop and
Sturgeon at third. R. Bisset replaced
Sturgeon in the sixth. The Puilties
were unable to score in the first, but
they , got four counters in ihe' second,
on five passes and two errors. ,They
were unable to score again ‚until the
eighth, when they scored twee more on
hits by McLeod and Hart and Cooper's
sacrifice hit. Clinton got two runs
in the fifth on two hits and gurgeon'S
two errors. They also got two hits in
the eighth on two hits, a pass and a
sacrifice hit. The Clinton team had
three juniors playing for their and
they showed up well, the defeat being
no fault of theirs. Hovey at first look-

Father Dead
The Brussels Post of last week re-
fers to the death of the father of Mrs.
G. L, Walker, of Winona, and a for-
mer resident of Clintoro—An old and
respected resident passed away last
Wednesday at the home of his son,
Thomas Williamson, 18th Concession,
Grey Township, following a general
break -down of the system, in the per-
son of Thos. W. Williamson, at the age
of 84 years. Mr. Williamson was bona
in ' the township of South Elmsby,
County of Leeds, Ontario, and came to
Grey - Township over 50 years ago.
Mrs. Williatzson, whose Inaiden name
was Elizabeth Milligan, pre -deceased
him about 10 years. The family con-
sists of three sons, George and Thomas,'
of Grey, and John, of MeKilicm; and
three . daughters, Mrs., H, Ramsay, of
Grey, Mrs. George 4,, Walker, Winona,
and Mrs. John Huffman, Goderich,
There is also, living onelsrother, George
now of British Columbia. Mr,

although he never participated 'Wive-
ly in either municipal or political a!f-
fairs, The funeral, service was conduct-
ed on Saturday afternoon by Rev. J. W.

Friends were indeed surprised on
Monday to learn of the death .of

nice Kay, wife of Mr. Ralph White, df
Lapeer, Michigan, and daughter of Dr,
and. Mrs. W. J. Kay, of the same place.
The deceased .was born in Clinton* a. -
bout 28 years Igo and,returned liter to
finish her schooling at the C, C. I, after
wards teaching for 2 years in Lapeer.
About 4 years ago she was married to
her bereft husband and a son "Billy"
suivives, Another baby was born on
Monday morning; but the ' relatives
here do not know if the baby is living
or not, at present. Besides her par-
ents, one sister also survives. Mrs'. W.
J. Treleaven and Mr, John Gibbings
left on'Wednesday to attend the funeral
which is being held to -day. The New
Era extends condolence to the heresy.

Last Thursday evening the people
who went over to the baseball park
saw the game of the season.when the
seniors and juniors crossed bats. Both
teams played snappy hall end .. the
spectat'ors got the worth of their
money. Butler, had -13 strikeouts and
walked 1; while Fred McTaggart, of
the juniors, had 6 strikeouts and walked
4. The juniors had 5 left on bases
while 6 seniors were left stranded. Dr.
Shaw was umpire and had a busy time
