Mr. Hugh B. Grigg of the Molsons
Bank, head office staff, Montreal,
is holidaying at his home in town

Mr. J. Ryder left on Friday for Mon-
treal and sailed on Saturday for
England, where the intends making
his home.
Mrs. Cranston, who has been visiting
her parents, Mr. and Mrs. John
Torrance, returns to her home in
Port Arthur this week.
Miss E. McKee, Miss A. Keith and
Miss Una Martin were guests at
the home of Mrs. R. J. Cluff 'dur-
ing the convention here last week.
Mr. R. Warrener is taking,a holiday
and is visiting friends in Toronto.

Miss Marion Gunn left Saturday to
report for duty in Harper's Hos-

tored up from London and spent
Sunday as the guests of Mr, and
Mrs. R. Jennison.
Mrs. Dunsm ore of St. Thomas and
Miss Belle Paisley of Atlanta, Ga.,
who were visiting in Detroit, spent
a couple of days at their parental
home last week, that of Councillor
and Mrs W. J. Paisley. •
Miss Garrett who has been visiting
her cousin, Miss Ward, of the
School of Commerce, since leaving
her cottage at Bayfield, leaves to-
day for Detroit, where she will vis_
it before going on to her house in
Washington, D. C.
Mrs. F, M. Holmes who : has Pur-
chased a home in St, Catharines,
where her son, Mr. H. S, Holmes,
is vice-principal of the Alexandra
School; leaves next week to take
tap her residence there. Her many
Clinton friends regret her depai-
tere from town.
Mrs. Ross and her daughter, Miss
Annie, who have been visiting here
for the past six weeks left Satur_
day on their way to their home in
San Franclee, Cal Miss Amelia
Harland accompanied them and
will spend the winter with thein,
and Mrs, MWCorvie accompanied
them as far as Calgary, where she
joins her " niece, Miss Annie Mc-
Corvie, who has a position there.

Mrs,: Thomson of Goderich is the
guest of her sister, Mrs. Cowie,
There passed away early on Mon-
day morning an old and highly re-
spected citizen in the person of
Mary Ann Gilmore, relict of the late
Archibald Stirling, at the age of
87 years. The deceased was born in
Ireland in the year 1834 and dame to
Canada with her parents at the age'
of three Months. They settled at
Iroquois on the St, Lawrence. In
the year 1853 she was united in
marriage to Mr, Archibald Stirling
of Iroquois. After their marriage
they remained there for a number of
Years, moving later to Howiek town-
ship. Prom there 'they came to
Stanley township and moved
into Bayfield in 1887, where she has
remained up till her death. Her
husband predeceased her about Wen-.
t -six years.h
y The funeral took place
from her late residence to the Hay-
field cemetery on Wednesday after-
noon at 2.30. Rev. I2,- C. Pitts of-
ficiated at house and graveside,
The pallbearers were: Messrs M.
1Kerr, Robert Johnston, Geo. King,
Robt. Greer, W. Meissen 'and C.
Parker. She leaves to mourn their
loss four daughters and two sons:
Mrs T, Nicholson and Mrs. Robert
Dewar of Stanley, Mrs. Johnston of
Clinton, Miss Aggie Stirling at home
and Samuel of Stanley and Archie of
London. The smpathy of .the coin-
