To .a friend who is in Bermuda we
ane indebted for a copy of the Royal
,Gazette and Colonist Daily, published
:at Hamilton, Bermuda. Among- other
-.things we leam from this paper, that
there are no motor , vehicles on the
Island. A guest at one of the hotels
was asked a shOrt tune ago if the
,visiting population welsh', welcome
'the introduction of- motor ears, and
• iafter making inquiries he. stated that
only one visitor approved of the idea
.and he was from a city where cars
•were built. All others approached
-were much opposed, although many
.-own carsat home. The general opin-
ion seems to be that the nopularity
of the island rests upon its "serenity
and poise. Its atinosphere of
leisure and harmony with ; ;natural
• surroundings." This atinoaphere would
-certainly soon iffiapPear ,if motors.
were allowed to go 'honking 'about at
:all -hours of the clay and night. When
we make our pile we're going, to
:settle in Bermuda.
