Although we have not always a -
reed with the public utterances of
J. IVIorrison, Provincial secretary
f the .U.11,0., last week at Kintail,
hen a 'rainstorm prevented him
speaking at the U.F.O. picnic, he
made; a remark with which we hearti-
ly agreed. It was to the effect -that
"the ram would do the country a lot
more good than his speech," We
suspect that ".T.J." has a lot of sense
hidden away in that "bald" head of
his, after all.
The terrible fira which destroyed the
Wawa Hotel, Lake of I3ays, last Sun-
-clay morning in which eight persons
at least lost their lives and many
were injured, reveals the fact that
there is a.. lack of fire proteCtion at
such places, This was a frame
-structure, built fifteen or sixteen
years ago, a large, roomy building.,
-which covered a lot of ground. Those
in the upper part of the building
seined to be dependent upon the ele-
vator for exit and as the fire started
near the elevator, which soon became
a huge chimney, up which the„ffaines
.and smoke roared, their only means
of escape -was cut off. Owing to the
dry season` everything was as dry
as tinder and fire extinguishers and
Any stream of water available lied

edy demonstrates thatbuildings at
such points should be fire -proof and
adequate protection provided.
