' WHAT ABOUT THAT TROUGH?
• Is Clinton: net oil to have a drinking
:fountain for • horses ?T, Last year's
conned decided to have one erected
and left same to a committee. It
our memory serves no report on the
hatter was ever presented to the
council, and no trough was provid-
ed. The hot weather- i.s, here' and
there are many delivery horses, dray.
horses and horses coming into town
constantly which only get a drink
fire regular; feeding time. A drinking
trough, where a horse could .be driv-
en up' to easily and allowed to -slake
his' thirst these torrid days, would
be a great boon. We have the
water, all -that's needed is a trough
and a pipe to pipe it in.

EARLY BATHERS
Col, Combe last 'week returned from
a trip,to the Georgian Bay and reports
that at Collingwood, Midland, etc.,
while the water is perfectly clear .for
,about two hundred yards' out beyond
that is one vast field of glistening ice,
so it is perhaps not to be wondered at
that cold winds occasionally blow
from that direction; It is said to be
an unprecedente"tithing for the first
of June. .Col; Oombe says he saw a
member of girl students from Toronto
in bathin"g at Wassagua Beach, where
the water was calm and • fairly good
for bathing In near= the shore, but
the girls, weir praiseworthy hardi-
hood, swam • out, to the ice field, clamb-
