Once again' the Christmas season rolls around,
It it the ane holiday season in which all Christians ars
interested—a--tirne of good 'cheer, of home -comings; a time for the
• forgetting of self and the thinking of others; for the giving of
gifts to those we love and to those less fortunate. For, no matter
• how far me..get from the.ideal spirit of Chriatmas there is always
something of the -real thing; something which snakes us 'more
• thotightfnl, less critical of faults, and more kindly to our -neighbor.
Few of us, perhaps, lint would be willing to agree' with
Seteoge's nephew when he said:. "I have atways thought- of
Christmas as a good time . a kind, :forgiving, charitable,
. pleasant time -. . a time when men and women open their

• It would be well for us. well:for the world -in general, if we
wOuld let the Chi spirit /soil over tetsbit'on all sides and.
spread itself throughout the year. Wemight, for instance, be a
l?it less selfish in November and a little more thoughtful of others
away on, even into February. It is a gsmuchy person, indeed. a
regular old Scrooge, who is exacting and fault-finding on Christmas
Day,„then why be so on other days during the year ? We cannot
• go' on esti • through the year buying gloves s
and
,,eneektia, • rings and • stick that . tax out finances
• and perhaps encumber the recipients, bat although we may not, be
• always giving gifts we, ean,,give a_pleasant word and a cheerful
For that, after all, is what makes Christmas so jollY.
