LITTLE ENGLAND'S " SPIRIT
Recently in these columns we were
led to remlark the quaint (beauty of
our ." Little England" downby the
river. The spirit of the pioneers
who there created homes in a wilder-
ness years ago is plainly still alive.
Word comes to us that Mrs. William
Siemer', Who has marled' nearly'
ninety birthdays, visited London
during fair 'week and enjoyed its
wonders. .and recreations with as
good a spirit 'as any school. girl.
The many, friends: to whom the
white hair and ' cheerful face es ' so'
familial will ': smile kindly to men-
tally picture " Grandma." riding the
,gilded chariot of the merry-go-round
'at Springbank park while her great
grandchildren drove the spirited
horses in. front of her. "Grandma's"
eyes.: sparkle as she tells of it and,
recalls the days of : England when
suchwonders as merry-go-rounds
existed only in fairy tales:
What need have we to fearfor
Canada's future when our mothers at'
the ninetieth birthday can still teach
us how to workand play?
