Nancy Cook, wife of Mr,. Arthur
Cook oftown passed away at her
home early Sunday morning atfter
an illness of some duration.
• The late Mrs. -Cook, whose maiden'
name was Cook; was born in Halton
County, near Acton, and carne to
Clinton on her' marriage.: She spent
alt her mai•ried life here and she;
was held in high esteem by those
who knew her best. She was quiet
and unassuming' and devoted to her
home and family. She was never
vevy robust in health and about six
years ago she had ,the .misfortune to
have a had fall and sustained ca
fractured hip,. She never regained
her strength and had been a -great
sufferer.
Besides 'her bereaved husband she
is survived by a family of three sons
and two daughters: Adam . of New
Ontario; Maude, Mrs. Gibson of
Toronto, George, who is • over-
seas on business for the Shim -
son Company, Toronto, Annie, Mrs.
Atkins, Toronto and Wellington , of
Hamilton;
Mrs," Cook spent the winter in
Toronto and Hamilton, only return-
ing Notice a month or so ago,
Tiuesfnneral took 'place on Tues-
day afternoon from her late ;resi-
dence on . Albeit, street. The secs

.conducted by the Rev. D,' N. McCann -
us, :pastor of Wesley church, or
which Mrs. Cook was a slevout,mem-

The flowers were very beautiful.

mission field in the fall.
St, Paul's Church

of us. Mr. Welsh IS expected home
shortly and it might be well for

people were attracted in the direc-
tion of the home of Mr. D. L. Welch,
Quality Point, and those who man-
agedto find, where the music, etc.,`
was coming : from were not disap-
pointed. B3efore. the Radio Concert
was over some 75 or 100 people hand
gathered as well as several cars, ancl'
all listening eagerly it the music, in-
cluding piano, orchestra and sonde ofr
the well-known singers, coming out

DEATH OF W. ALEXANDER
•
The death took place at Port Hur-
on on Wednesday last ,of . William
Alexander, for many years a resi-
dent of Clinton. . He • was in his
eightieth year.
Mr. Alexander Was born in God
erich township, where he grew to
manhood. Later he farmed for 'a
tine 'inHullett but tlidity-five years
ago he came to live in Clinton and
this continued to be his home until a
couple of years ago, when, owing to
:failing health he went to reside with
his daughter, Mrs. Greene of Port
Huron; where he died. Mrs. Alex-
ander died fourteen years ago. A
son and daughter. survive, Mrs. Green
of Port Huron and'Herbert Alex-
ander 'of' London, both of .whom were
with him at the end and both ac-
companied: -the remains to Chilton.
One brother, James ., Alexander., of
Goderich' township, and two sisters,
Miss Martha Alexander and ' Mrs.
Thos. McKenzie, both of Clinton,
survive. '
The funeral tool{ place on Friday
afternoon, the Rev. 'J. E. Hogg con-
ducting the services. 'Che pall-
bearers were six nephews: Messrs.
Harry and Harold Graham George'
Elliott Harvey Alexander, George
McKenzie and Goldie Cantelon.
Mrs. H. Alexander and her moth-
er,.Mrs, McEwan came up from Lon-
don for the funeral.

FUNERAL OF 'MRS. FORBES\
The funeral of 'the late Mrs. Ar-
thur Forbes took place on. Friday.
afternoon last to Maitlandbank cem-
etery, Seaforth. The Rev.- J. E.
Hogg conducted the service : at the
house and :was'assisted by'the 'Rev.
Dr. Larkin', a ' former pastor of the
deceased; at the graveside, The
pallbearers were: W D. Fair, G. A.
Roberton, J. B. Lindsay, R. Jones,
Jagies Scott and A. E. Durnin. All
the family were Present fon the
funeral, a son arriving from Texas
on Friday morning.

late Mrs. 'Forbes, wish to thank all
friends for their kindness arid sym-
pathy in their recent bereavement.
The marriage was solemnized at
high noon yesterday at the home o:1
the bride's parents, of Ilarriot Louise
Greig, only daughter of Mil and Mrs.
T. A. `Greig, and Frank Allison 'Jen-
kins, only sou of Mr and Mrs. 1131m
Jenkins, all of .town.
The bride looked- very sweet and
dainty in her wedding gown of white
• canton crepe with pearl trimmings•
and wearing a long tulle veil held
in place` by a cornet of 'orange
blossoms, She „ carried a shower
bouquet of roses - and '_lily -of -the-
valley.
The Ceremony was performed by
the Rev;. J. E. Hogg, the bridal cou-
ple standing under. a large white,
flower -bedecked bell, , from which
immedately after the ceremony they
were showercl with confetti. They
were unattended, Miss Vera Craw-
ford of Ripley played the wedding
music. Miss Crawford's mother
performed' the Same office at the mar-
riage of the bride's parents.

The Faill Trophy Tournament
The .weather; man ..didn't` smile very sweetly upon the bowlers on Fri-
day last, when the Frill Trophy tournament was held on the local green,
as it poured rain all forenoon. The, players 'lnegal to gather in good
time but it was impossible to get cntl the green until altertloon, when
the sun came out again. . As the clouds scattered from the , sky ' so.

find a busier company than that on the bowling green all afternoon and
on into the evening,
