The Newmarket Express complains;
about the difficulty of -writing the
:name of Gwillimbury township. It
is nothing at -'all to the pitfalls
awaiting one in that of Chingna-
.cousy. --We:haves to '.go to the map
nearly every time we have occasion
-to-write that name, and it is, truly
marvellous how many of the old set-
• tiers were born there. •Chingua-
,cousy has had- an extremely large,
out' go of native borers.
Just' at the beginning of the sea-
son' of sport:: it will :not be amiss to
:reproduce from-theOrillia Packet,
the following regarding sport:
- The British •-idea of sport'' is
well put shy, one of their best -
sportsmen: "The game is the
thing with tilt If we win, well
.and ,good, : If eve don't, well,.
• thee:other fellow, dill, -'so what
.difference?" • This is how the
'Toronto Star puts' it: ' "To
-play-squarely and without price,
to win fairly and without'-ile-
esi6, . to lose- honourably . ;and
without bitterness these are the
things worth while. in amateur
sport."
If 'those who are engaging. in, it.
,only knew how a gallant loser ,'ap-
:peals to the very best element ,in the
'community itwould encourage: -them;
to "Lose honourably., and without'
'bitterness." One feels an ad;nn-,
anon , for a gallant loser never felt
,for a winner, however successful,
The game always should be "the
thing" in amateur sport,
