Thornton was born in DereAham townsbiir, near Ingersoll, on June 20th, 1864, the third son of the late John Thodnton and Mary Stockdale, When six years of age, he came with his parents to Morris township, where he had since resided. Sistr- four years ago he was carried to Esther Ann Roe, who predeceased him about 11 Years ago. He was a staunch Conservative in politics and a member of the Bluevale United Church, .and a lifelong member of the L:O1L., No, 766, having joined at the age of 18 years.
