They have worked and toiled and worried over this farm, for they love it, as I love it, but they cannot make ends meet, No matter how many bushels of grain we grow or hone many pigs we raise we hale no money over. It costs as -much to grow, the staff as we glt paid for it. The boys work from 5 in the morning until 7 or halfpast in the evenings. So do mother and I. We cannot pay $40 or $50 a month for help or we would have no money to pay your other immediate debts, I raise ducks and chickens and fa'.d calves, besides doing the work a girl on the farm always has to do. Mather takes in summer borders' to help keep food on the table, f.ar our cream oheque goes for other things', now. Mother needs her teeth fixed, but she hasn't any money to get them done. Why do we stay on the farm? Be- cause the birds sing in our hedges at daslbeak. Because our mare looks over the barnyard gate and whinnies gently to us when we ga across the yard.
