CHRISTINA .HISLOP
• ,.:There passed away at her home in
Turnlberry township in' the person of
7Christina Hislop on June 44th hav-
ing lived there all her life being an
inrvalid over seventy-five yearn not
able to " (calk only on crutches, when
quite young being stricken with
what is now Alwyn as infantile parah-
.ysis.; and late fell and injured her

es. ; Although an invalid for many
years could read and write and
amuse herself by the use of herr

,brbither Alexander and one sister
,Elizabeth remain in the tome to
mourn her departure. The flowers
were beautiful. Rev. A. M. Grant
preached. the funeral sermon at the
home and at cemetery. The pall•
bearer were John .Strachan, Oharlie
Simpson, Alex MoDwen, Roy Sander-
son, Lide Jacklin and Albert Arm-
strong. Intermnennt made in the
Wroxeter cemetery.

Mr. and, Mrs. J. Burnett of Detroit
spent the week end with the latter's
sister Mrs.' James McFarlane.
The Jamestown' War Workers
held; 'their monthly tea on June 'Mu
w,th an attendance of 21 ladies. A
dainty tea was served by Mrs. A.
rahnston, Mrs. G. McKay, Mrs, S.
Breckenridge, 'Hazed McDonald and
Dorothy McDonald. Proceeds from
the hea amounted to $4.58 and
tickets, were sold; on an apron reallz-.
'nig $1.25. The lucky winner being
Mrs. W, Gray. A bale was then
packed consisting of the following: -
For civilian relief -6 quilts, 1 ladies'
winter coat, 9 ladles' dresses, 5
ladlesn sdipsy 1 pr.laddes's bloomers,
3 children' nightgowns, 5 children's
dresses, 6 children's slips, '5 pr.
children's bloomers, 1 pr. children's

surrounding .community, and an en-
jowalble evening spent by all present.
The play entitltd "Aunt Tillie goes
to Town," was well presentel by the
young people of Bluevale under the
capable direction, of Mrs. Rev. Tay-
ener. +112usic between, acts wars sup-
plied bq'Messrs. Lloyd Warwick and
T. McFarlane. A draw for a lucky
ticket on tr quilt donated by Mrs. W.
Balfour wait won by Mrs. E. Brown
