Although weather conditions were most unfavorable there was a good attendance at the dance at Kirton's schoolhouse on the Ota concession of Turnberry on Friday night. The special feature of the evening evas drawing the lucky tickets for the Dresden plate guilt donated by Mrs. Charles Elliott and a 25-1b. sac kof flour donated by L. G. Turvey. Miss Florence McQuil- lan of the Wingham General Hos- pital staff, became the proud pas sessor of the quilt and Eldred Nichol held the lucky ticket for the flour Music mas supplied by the Gerrie orchestra. The ladies served lunch. The proceeds will go to the Blue - vale Women's Institute to be used to purchase supplies for the sol- diers. The Rev. Mr. McLeary, secretary for this division of the Opper Can- ada Bible Society, spoke in Knox Presbyterian Church on Sunday morning and at Eadie's Presbyter- ian Church in the afternoon. Mr. McLeary stated the facts and figures of the Society in a very interesting manner and it is most encouraging to know that each pear the output of Bibles Is increasing. The local com- mittee with Robert Shaw as presi- dent, held a meeting recently and appointed collectors who will com- mence their canvas in the near future. Mrs. Fred Johnson and daugh- ters, Mr, and Mrs. Lewis. and Mr. Pilleworth of Toronto, spent the weekend with Mr. and Mrs. Arthur ;Shaw and other relatives; Miss Ruth Johnston is spending two weeks here; Miss Clara Pinkney,.
