Howick Fair
Big Success
The annual Howiek Fair this year
at,Fordwlch, alternately held with
Gorrie, was an outstanding success
both in livestock and In the agricul-
tural hall. While the weatherman
did not smile favorably in the morn-
iny, it was an ideal afterni)n, the
gate receipts' being up to the usual
number,
T1te schiol children's parade con -
stating of school pupils in the town-
ship of Howick, with their banners,
headed by the Mildmay 40 -piece
band, opened the fair.
A special exhibit was the Hiwica
Township Swine Club, the first
three prizes going in order to Ken.
neth Wright, Eldred Lathers •and
Blake Gibson,
The antique. display 'featured,
many articles over 100 years' obi.
Included in the numerous antiques
was a threshing machine, peasant's
flour mill, shingle lathe, wooden
shovels, wooden horse collars and
dozens of other articles, H. Neil,
who was in charge of the antique
display, demonstrated . how ancest-
ors used these different machines
and articles.,
The directors • and officers w°M
pleased with the results. It was

Cultural Society.
