A quiet wedding was solemnized
at 'fhe manse, Wingham by Rev.
Anderson on• Saturday, April 20th.

ter of Mr. and MTS. Joseph Jackliu
Sr., third concession of Grey Twp.,
`vas united in marriage to Mr. Fred
H. Porter youngest son of James
Porter, Wingham and the late Mrs.
Porter. The bride was attired in a
heaven blue Chiffon and carried an
arm baguet of white roses, Lily of
the valley and fern. The young
couple were attended by Mr. and
Mrs. Albert Porter. The party re-
turned from the manse to enjoy a
sumptuous wedding dinner at the
home of the bride's parents. Ttie
imimg roam was appropriately dec-
orated in pink and white, the table
bearing the bride's cake. Mr. and
Mrs. Porter lett later to spend a
few days in Hamilton and Niagara.
The bride travelled in a blue coat,
silver Sox scarf with accessories to
match. On their return they will
reside on the groom's farm near
Wingham.
Tenders Wanted
Township of Grey
'Tenders will be received by the
undersigned until 2 o'clock, Satur-
day, May 4th 1940 and will be open-
ed at the Township office, Ethel, on
the said date for crushing and haul-
ing 7000 or more cu. yds, of Gravel:
said gravel to pass through screen
one inch square perforation, and to
be delivered anywhere on the
Township Roads as may be directed
by- the Road iSuperintendemt.
Average haul to be 4 miles. Work
must be completed before October
lat 1940.
A certified cheque for $200.00
must accompany each tender, The
Iowest or any tender not necessar-
ily accepted.

The 1J.F.W.O. meeting was, held
at the home of Mrs, Louis Row-
lands on April 17th With a good
attendance. Mrs. James Smith gave
a .splendid talk on "Mother's Place
in. the Home," Mrs. W. Leeming
gave a very interesting demonstra-
tion on a hot bed an (Window bog -
es. The next ?nesting will be held
on May 15th at the home of Mrs.
Wilbur Turnbull. Mrs. H. .Speirs
of Brussels is expected to be pres-
ent to give an address. There will
.also be a plant exchange at this
