Of Seaforth Dies
While On Train
Widely -Known Business
Man Is Suddenly Stricken
While Returning Home
From Toronto

business ;man, died suddenly lent
Friday night on a train as lie was on
his way home from Toronto, He had
been in poor health for some
months,
,Starting a sanallsbaking businese
here about 1900 Ms'. Crich had ex-
panded
xpanded the industry year by year.
Atways of an active stature and
keenly interested in everything al-
fecting the welfare of the town Mr.
Well served in many public
capacities. He was a former come
tiler and memiber of the school
,board and at the time of his, dearth
was a member of the board of
Scott ,Memorial Hospital. The
grounds of the hospital he regarded
with particular interest and spent
many hours of his time directing
the landscaping and planting.
He was an enthusiastic sports-
man and every year spent as, much
time as he could spare with a fish
rod or gun.
Held Many 'Offices.
Since uttering injuries in a
motor accident about a year ago
Mr. Orich has not taken an active
Part in the business• which he
founded but retained an interest
in, its welfare. Drring his Life-
time he herd mayor offices in dis-
trict and Provincial braking asso-
elations and was a pioneer in seek-
ing- uniifosunity and co-operation in
the industry.
Ile was bora in Brussels where
he received his early Schooling.
After some years spent in Idaho
he returned to Seaforth where he
has mince resided.
About 45 years" ago he married
Miss Mary Andrews, • of Seaforth,
who survives, together with a fam-
ily of four sone and four daugh-
ters, Dr. W. A. -Crich, Miss Gertrude
Crich, Mrs. E. )Smith Fred- and
George of Toronto; Sohn C. and
Mew Margaaet. who have been
associated with him in the business
and Miss Helen, of Seaforth.

Held in the tanvn ball ' on Friday
evening of last week, it drew a large
erolwd of young peopte who were

town and vicinity.

Dancing to the pleasing music of

bad roads it was withdrawn.

The annual meeting and election
of Officers of the W. A. of the United
Church 'was held in the schoolroom
of the ohunch on Dec. 27, with the
president, (Miss 513. ,'Robinson in
charge. Mrs. W. J. Stewart read the
Scripture lesson and prayer was
offered by Mrs. Davison. The min-
utes, were read by the .secretary and
the treasurer repented' 2606 was
raised airing the year. A Committee
was ampoiniteld to take charge of the
January meeting composed of Mrs.

Last Tuesday evening a little
snapper was held in the wood -

in " the gravel pit near Lewie
Russell's hush. •

Tuesday afternoon and. the boys
spent the aditernoon playing King
Pedro. Fred ,Stephenson and Joe
Rutledge 'were the champions over
the camp till Danny Rutledge and
Jack Lowe returned from town and
they beat the champions 200 to 30

About 5.30 Lewie brought. a large s.
goose and a fewother things for 1
supper and, all set down to a hearty
meal. The only thing that was
wrong was elbow room at the table.
Lennie •started the supper off b3'
carving the goose and Eddie Garton
arranged the table. Danny tried to
make a little gravy but something
mush have went wrong because the
boys ended up using butter instead.
Fred Stephenson and Joe Rut-
ledge were to weak dishes but
Lewie had to go to town and they
disappeared :with him, so the dishes
were left to Jack Halley, Morris

fusion of ,blood to Mrs. H. P. Kelly

speedy recovery.
