MORRIS
On Tuesday evening, Nov. 7th
about seventy-five friends and
neighbors gathered at the home of
Mr. and Mrs, Martin Garntss on the
eve of their departure to their new
home in' Lower Wingham. An en-
joyable program was presented,
after which Mr, and Mrs. Garnise
were permuted with two beautiful
chairs and the following address
was read by Mrs, Jack Bowman:
To Mr. and Mrs, M. Garniss.
Dear Mr. and Mrs. Garniss•-
We have met here tonight, a
little group of your friends and
ineighlbons to enjoy a few hours with
you, on the eve of your departure
Ito your new home,.
We wish to express our sincere
regret that you are leaving our
iconimunity for we have found you a
good neighbor, always 'willing to
hellp in a cheeriful pleasant way.
A wise man once said "He who
nvould have. friends, must show him-
self friendly." This you have done,
land you are leaving many friends
in this neighborhood.
We realise, the value of the in-
dividual homes in the building ofo
an industrious, worth while com-
munity. This thought has 'been
,aptly expressed in the following
lines;
"It isn't battle fields and guns
That make a nation great,
Or clanking arms, or marching men,
I Olr panoply of State.
St's little homes againet the earth,
, Where {peace and love abide
Its rugged hills and quiet fields. .
tAicrobs tke country side.'•
ISO we shall miss the contribution
your home has made in our dis-
trict.
With best wishes for a happy
rosTerous home la Wingham we
,ask ypu to accept these gitts as a
token of our esteem,
Signed on beihra, llf of the com-
munity,
Tom B. Strachan n
