On June 6th
Their Majestle" King George VI
and Queen Elizabeth will spend
an hour in Stratford on June 1,
according to an official itinerary
made public at Ottawa Tuesday
night. They will also make brief
stops at Kitchener and Guelph that
same day, Tuesday, June 6, travel-
ling by train from Bracebridge on
their return from a tour of ,,the
Canadian West.
Their month's tour of the Domin-
ion by their :Majesties does nut
allow for a great deal of time to be
spent in one place.. About 50
brief personal appefranees will be
made in Canada,
The people of this locality will no
doubt be delighted to learn that the
royal tour includes the above
mentioned nearby cities, also Lon-
don, offording them an opportunity

The late Mrs, Jacklin had been in
falling health for the past six years.
She was stricken with pneumonia

The funeral services were held

There will be nine new faces on
the Huron County Council this
year, three of these changes re-
sulting from voting on Monday:
Five Huron 'municipalities went to
the polls on the holiday, although
in only two of the rural townships
were elections being held: far the
reeveships.
Upsets in these two townships,.
namely in Howiok and Tucker -
smith, featured the voting, with 0
fairly heavy vote being polled, lu
view of the severe weather the rur-

within recent days.
In Howick Township the resiting
reeve, 3. A. Bryaus, went down to
defeat at the hands of J. W. Gamble
the majority being 198. The vote for
the new reeve was 568, while the
retiring reeve polled 370 votes. -In
the race for the deputy-reeveship
D. L. Weir came through with a
majority of 71, over the retiring
deputy -reeve, A. E, Toner. The
vote resulted as follows: D. L. Weir,
481 and A. E. Toner, 410.
Council Named
Three candidates to secure seats
on the township council were, 'Rob-
ert Baker„ 464; Edward' McCallum,
492; B. H. Strong, 391. Defeated
were John. Winters, 299; William
Ries, 298.
In one other rural municipality
of Huron, namely Tuckersmith,
Samuel Whitmore • was elected
reeve for the forthcoming year over
Charles McKay, reeve for 1938.
The successful one o11 the two polled
184 votes and 170 were accorded
McKay.
