Roy Hall led the order of service. A
skit was put on by ,lour girls, "An
Act of Appreciation to Mothers of
Canada," under direction of Miss
Darling. The story, "A Christian
Hoare •an(1 a New China," was told
, by Mrs. S. Brenton. The Spring
flowers made a lovely setting. The
,Sunday school will continue to
meet for the Summer months at
10:30 a.m.
Rev. S. Brenton tool: for his
subject can Sunday evening in the
United Church, "The Eternal Fire."
The choir gave special music, and
the number by the male quartet
was much appreciated. There was
a large array of beautiful flowers.

the Last Huron district Women's

May 5. Delegates were present
from six of the seven brunches, Mrs,
1, C, Demorling of iaorchvich, presi-
dent of the district presider, and
alter the usual opening exercises
she called on the secretary. .Mrs,
John Speir to read the minutes o1
the last meeting and else to give the
finanlcial report •od the district.
The secretary also .read a letter
Te the Jain Fund donation but it was
decided to leave this for the annual
meeting. The ch.osing of a district
project was also left for the annual
meeting "Mauch is to be held in the
basement of the Presbyterian Church
at 131nevale on June Rh. The guest
.speakers are Mrs. R, White of
Ripley and Miss Eleanor Kidd of
Toronto.
Plans were then made for the
program flor the annual meeting and
it promises to be most interesting
and instructive and every ranch is
urged to send as many delegates as
poslstible.
The directors at the branches
present termed a nominating com-
mittee to draft a slate of officers for
1944-45. The ladies whose nares
were ohoser for president and vice
president would not let their names
stand so nominations for These
offices. will be left till the annual
meeting.
Mrs. Jas. Bremner gave a report
of the convention at Guelph which
she attended and also thanked the
ladies 1o•r the ,honour they had
bestowed upon her by sending her
as Federated Representative.
Mrs. Harold Speir then moved a
vote of thanks to Mrs, iarcNaughton
and the Wroxeter Institute for their
hospitality.
A. delicious hunch was served by
the ladies of the Wroxeter Institute,

Mrs. Arthur Wheeler and children
of Hamilton are visiting with Mr.
and Mrs, Jim Johnston, lot line and
other friends.
Mr, and Mrs. Robt. Warwick and
Miss Viola Mathews spent a while on

COUNTY
Corn Borer Clean-up reguliat-
ions, are in force in this county in
1944. It is particularly import-
ant that all corn growers com-
pletely dispose of their corn re-
fuse either ploughing under or
by burning, before May 27th,
1944. The clean-up is particul-
arly important this year since a
considerable increase of .Corn
Borer occured in 1943.
