What it means
to wear this emblem!
When you listen to news of what
our boys are going through
overseas
• and read the casualty lists In
your newspaper every day
• and measure the sorrow and
anxiety that have come to thou-
sands of Canadian homes —and
may come to many more...
Are your satisfied that you are
doing ALL YOU CAN?
Our.men and women in unifonn
are ready, if need- be, to die for
Canada, for Freedom, for YOU.
Compared with that, no amount
of sett -denial is too great.
Ate you prepared to put EVERY
SINGLE DOLLAR YOU CAN
SAVE into VIctory bonds? Into
bonds that will assure a steady.
flow of vital supplies to bring
Victory closer?
That's what YOU can do to
help shorten the war, " to save
precious lives. And that's what the
wearing of this emb':m means—
that you too are doing your share
that you are buying all the
Victory Bonds you can!

GONG
TO PAINT.
FOLLOW THESE SIMPLE RULES: -
Outside Painting
Be sure the surface is dry; let the sun
or wind dry it out after a rain. Remove
dirt from corners, putty up any cracks
and holes. Don't lay the paint on too
thickly—you'll get a better job if you
brush it on sparingly. If you apply
more than one coat, let the first coat
dry thoroughly before putting on the
second one.
Iitiside Painting
Make certain your surface is clean. Re
move any film of grease or dirt from walls
or furniture, especially in the kitchen, for
instance. It's a good plan to wash sur-
faces with soap and water before paint-
ing; if you do this, be sure to let it dry
first. Smooth your wall surface by plas-
tering holes and cracks, and sandpaper
rough places in furniture, before apply
ing your paint.

We shall fight on the beaches

4 We shall fight on the Iandino grounds
'We shall fight in thefields.,.
These historic words, spoken by Mr. Churchill
in June, 1940, when Britons were frantically
preparing to meet an invasion, can be para-
phrased to provide even more inspiration to-
day when our own invasion forces are poised
for the attack on the continent.
Yes, we shall fight on their beaches, on their
landing grounds, in their fields; we must fight
too in our factories, offices and homes, and on
our farms. The Sixth Victory Loan is another
great offensive launched against the enemy:
Each and every one of us must strike a blow
