The last six days were devoted mainly to marching, and during the period the foot -sloggers covered more than 280 miles. As an experiment, three out of four platoons were allowed to get all the water they wanted. The members of the fourth platoon were kept entirely off water and were served only with tea. The "water platoons" made good use of their water bottles, but the "tea platoon" was the only one to Huish the course intact. Harold McPhillips, prices and supply repre- sentative, for Western Ontario, Mr. McPhillips felt this should be drawn to the attention of the housewives so that bhey could save their D coupons in order to purchase .sup -- plies of maple syrup when the time arrives. Four coupons will obtain one gallon of maple syrup. The throe coupons which fall due in March will all become valid for the pur- chase of maple syrup on the sec- ond of March. These together, with one coupon saved from Feb- ruary will enable the ' consumer to - buy one gallon .of the syrup. Although syrup is usually ready here in March the new value will continue in effect until the end of May. On Tune 1st the coupon value will revert to 24 ounces per, coupon. The coupon value of maple..augar has been increased from the Original half pound per coupon to two pounds per cowpo'n, This new value will remain in effect through- ott the year.
