(World Day Of Prayer The annual Women's World Day_ of Prayer was held this year iu the ;United Church, Brussels, on Friday afternoon. A Large number of the ladies of the community attended. The meeting was Oonductel by representatives of the Missionary Societies of the United, Presbyterian and Anglican CliOrCites, Mrs. R. 8. Hamilton, Mee. S, Kerr and Mrs. M. F. Oldham, The scripture feeding was given by Mrs. Geo. Davis and special prayers were taken by Mrs. Eckmier and Mee. Bates. The. devotional address "That Thek All May Be One' 'was oaipably given by Mr's. H. Bryan.. -Mrs A. Thomas presided at the organ and Mies C. Hingston contributed a solo: United Y.P.S. Entertains The young people of Melville Presbyterian church ,and tire. Sr. John's Anglican church -were enter- tained by the Y.P.S. o•t. the United church on Monday night. Miss .Betty Best, president of the latter society conducted the meeting with Miss Ruth Wilson at the piano. Tits meeting opened with a hymn Bellowed by prayer with Jean Mc Donald aud scripture reading' by Mary. Wilton. Rev. S. Kerr had the topic, he react several paragraphs from "Tbe Road" by Lloyd Douglas, 'Pesos on Trial' 'and spoke on the words "What shall T then do with 'esus" A reading was contributed by Mrs. R. Kennedy. After the concluding hymen Miss Luella Mitchell was in charge of games and contests. Lunch was served. Votes of thanks were extended to the Y.P.S. of tbe United church for their hospitality, Singing cf the National Anthem brought the meet- ing to a close. Subsidy For Cord Wood To meet the threat of a serious "wood -fuel famine" which threatens to Gonne to a head next winter, the Munitions Department , announced last Thursday that a subsidy of $1 a cord will be paid to dealers on all coanmerciel fuel -wood contracted for and cut on or before June 30, 1943, and held to dealers' account on that date.
