The home economies meeting of
the Belgrave Women's Instituto was
held at the home of Mrs. Herbert
Wheeler with Mrs, Jesse Wheeler
assisting the hostess. The press'
dent, Mrs. Earl Anderson, was in tbe
chair;
A feature of the meeting was an
address by Alex 'Porterfield, repre-
sentative of the National War Fin-
anee committee, who spoke on the
forthcoming government loan and
the sale of War .Saving Certificates.

The roll -call was well responded
to by naming "the handsomest
article in my kitchen and why." A
demonstration on cleaning a paint
brush was given by Mrs. 3, Wheeler.
A paper dealing with the nation-
al health campaign was given by
Mrs. N. Keating, Mrs. George
Johnston contributed a piano solo,
A questionaire on 3iorne econom-
ics was conducted by Mrs. J.
Wheeler. The meeting olosed with
the Institute ode. Lunch was
served by the hostess, assisted by
Mrs. T. B. Johnston.
A good crowd attended the
euchre and dance in the Foresters'
hall Thursday evening arranged by
local young men to aid the over-
seas cigarette fund, Prize -winners
for the euchre were Miss Nora Van
Camp and Jesse Wheeler, and for
the door prize, Alex Young.
Arthur's Orchestra supplied the
auusie.
A quilting was held at the henna
of Mrs, Lewis Cook, 6511 concession
East Wawanosh, when a quilt was
completed for the Red Crass So-
ciety,
Mrs. Clifford Logan and baby Pa-
tricia Anne have moved to Hamilton
to join Mr. Logan.
Mrs. John Coultes has returned
home from visiting Mrs, James
Leaver, Wingham.

of llluevale United Church met
Thursday afternoon at the house of
Mrs .Curtis with an attenaancn • of
14 ladies. '1'he meeting was. Presicied;

ing three pointe—Christian Educe -

ward Johnston, Mrs. W. 3, John -
sten spoke of Christian E;quoatton
in the school and Mrs. Laura Kirton
spoke on Christian Education in the
Church and Sunday School; The
discussion pointed out that all three
are required.
During the business period Mrs
W. 3, Johnston and Mrs, Mary
Robertson were appointed to meet
with the Presbyterian ladies to
arrange for the World Day of
Prayer,

Death claimed a respected resi-
dent of Bluevale on Saturday
evening in the person of James Mc-
Ilary in his 81st year. Mr. McHardy
was born in Colborne township and
came to Bluevale, with his parents,
when a small bay He always en-
joyed the best of health, until a
few years ago he developed a heart
condition. However throughout the
winter he had been able to pay his
daily visite to the places of bus-
iness. The departed man had been
spending a few days at the home of
Mr, and Mrs. W. H. McKinney and
when he did not rise at the reg.

The funeral service was herd from
Knox Presbyterian Church Tuesday
afternoon at 2;00 o'clock con-
ducted by Rev. F. G. Fowler, The
