Ethel Native Dead
The funeral of George Jamieson,
native- of Ethel„ Ont., who died in
Jamestown, N.Y., on Wednesday
after n short illness, was held in
Jamestown Friday, ' Burial was made
in Jamestown cemetery. Surviving
are two daughters, Mrs, Corry
Sarnia, and Mrs. D. ,Davies, Sala-
manca, N.Y., and one son, 0. ,Tam-
ieson, St, Catharines.

The regular monthly meeting of
St. John's Guild was held in the
Vestry on Tuesday, Nov. 10, Rev.
M. F. Oldham conducted the De-
votional Period and Mrs. G. Davis
was in charge, There .was a good
attendance. :Lunch was served at
the close,
Two Local Men
Have Narrow Escape
IBRAMP:TON, Nov. 13—A head-on
collision of a truck owned by Wil-
liam Hall driven by Oscar Hall,
Grand Valley, and a car driven by
Harry Mc0uteheon, 'occurred just
south of Victoria, sending four to
hospital. Provincial Constables
Barry Farrell and Kit still investi-
gated.
The injured were attended by Dr.
W. W. Bartlett of Brampton. Mc-
ICutcheon. suffered a head cut and
a burned hand. His car burst sato
flames and he entered the vehicle
and disconnected the ignition wires,
John Thynne of Brussels, a pas-
senger, suffered 'head abrasions.
Oscar Hall, driver of the truck and
William Clayton of -Grand Valley, a
passenger, 'soffered bruises and
shook.
Provincial police reported that .the
snow flurry, coupled with slippery
driving conditions, .resulted in sev-
eral accidents on highways in Peel

The .Women's- Auxiliary held the
November meeting on Tueeday even-
ing with .an attendance of thirty
ladies at the home of Mrs. 11. C,
Wilson., The President, Mrs. Hirg-
gan presided aed• •oapened the meeting
with singing a hymn. The scripture
reading was taken by Mrs. Rano; and
Mrs. Deadanan,, a visitor whoin
we were pleased to have with
with us, led in - prayer, Minutes
of the previous meeting were read
by the secretary and adopted and
Miss E. Downing, the treasurer, gave
her report after which the usual dis-
cussion! of business followed,
Miss Ruth :Wilson favored with a
piano solo. And Mrs. Nurse,, a
eong accompanied by guitar.- A
flower contest relating to newly-
weds was taken by Mrs, H3uggan and
was ranch appreciated,
A. vote -of thanks was tendered to
the hostess and lunch was served
assisted by the co'avenors and the
National Anthem brought the social
evening to -a close,

The service of Holy nC'ommunion'
was held in .St, John's Church on
Sunday, Nov. 15th at which the
newly confirmed candidates partook
of their first Communion, . There
was a good attendance at the ser-
vice. The Rector preached on the
well known text St, John 3:10, the
conversation between. Jesus and
Nicodemus. "For God so loved the
world that He gave His Only Begot,
ten Son, that whosoever believetli
in Him should not perish, but have
everlasting Igo," There was a
s,plenldtd number of people took
communion.
The Laymen's Banquet of Huron
Deanery scheduled for " St. John`s
Church. on Fieday, Nov, 20 has been
postponed on account of the main

Esteemed Resident Of
` Brussels Laid To Rest
Elizabeth Ferguson Speir
This community was shocked by
the sudden death of Elizabeth 11'.
Speir, who passed away at her home
in Brussels on Wednesday rooming,
November 11th, from a heart con
clition.
(Miss !Speir had been going about
as usual that morning and had left
hes home and started downtown
when she felt ill and returned home
where her demise occurred before
medical aid arrived.
The deceased was the daughter of
Mary iMcCrae Speir and the late
James Spelr and was born in Morris.
township on August 26th, 1887. She.
was a resident of this district all her
life having lived in Brussels for the
past twenty years and she leaves a
large circle of warm friends and
acquaintances who were grieved to
learn of her death.

various activities of both organize-
tions will be greatly missed.

Deer Had To Be Smart To Miss
Hail of Bullets
The hunters lost no time getting
out early Monday morning, Huron
County being opened for deer shoot-
ing for the first time for a good
many years attracted many hunters
from outside and many farmers that
for sometime hall not bothered to
hunt went forth this year as they
had little or no .distance to go from
house,
Walter Scott did a. rushing busi-
ness far the sale of licenses as. a
nuinvber of game wardens were sold
.out in this district.
The number of deer shot up at the
time of going to press could not be
Ascertained but it can easily be esti-
mated that there will be a large.
number of deer shot.
