Letters to the Editor

Clinton, October 16th, 1942
Canada's Third Victory Loan is to
be introduced on October 19th. Six
months ago, the people of Huron
oversubscribed their objective by
$297,250. In the First Victory Loan,
our people gave leadership to the
Dominion) by raising their full quota
in six and a half days. Such is the
record of Huron County, a proud
a;chdevernent and one that I know
will be maintained in the days im-
mediately ahead. In snaking an
appeal to support the Victory Loan.
Campaign., I feel that I am endorsing
the men' of Dieppe, supporting our
grand young men of the Air Force,
the Navy and all branches of His
Majesty's Forces; thousands of
whom have gone from the County
of Horan to take their Place in
Britain's Guard of Honour. I pay
tribute to the Huron County National
War Finance Committee for the time
and effort they have devoted towards
building up a capable and efficient
organization. I appeal to the citi-
zens of Huron to give their full
support to Canada's, Third Victory
Loan.

Dear Editor:
Regarding the Victory Loan, •awe
have something to say to our fellow
farmers 'throughout Huron !County.
This is our War and our Government
is finding it necessary to raise '••unr
Precedented sums of money to
prosecute it as we demand, They
have two sources of revenue, 'tax-
ation and borrowing from Canadian
citizens. Victory positively neces-
sitates voluntary sacrifice, both of
life and the giving up of things we
want.Should we fail to win the
war, your farms, your homes, your
investments and your savings as
wen as the, products of your labours
will be Iiidller's prize, Your sacri-
fice now will mean freedom later
and your pum akee of Victory Bonds
now will mean Money to use when
the war is wan.
Some imaginethat the smaller
Bonds are unimportant but it is to
secure these that we have Victory
Loan, drivee. Do not leave It all
to the ,big fellow; there are not
enough of them; this time every
Person's help is needed. Should
you fail to lenld to the fullest extent
of your ability, you have failed to do
your part for Victory; you have
failed to support the armed forces;
you have failed to , do what yon
alone can do to protect your home,
your family and your ,investment in
Canada. Lend for Victory; Buy a
Band„ be it small or large and let
your ability and conscience be your
guide,
The Huron County Federation
of Agriculture.
A. W. Morgan, President.
00 Octolber 19th Canada's Third
Victory Loan was launched, The
minimum objective in terms of
money is 750 million dollars, but
the goal is "Every Canadian to the
limit of his ability" -.buying bonds
either from cash, from accumulated
savings, or by in'statments each week
or month.
•Suecees calls for personal sacrifioe
on the part of every Canadian, The
signal to go out and to do' the
biggest financial task of all times
,has been given, It is up to all of
us to do our fair share. WORK . .
