United Church. parsonage, Brussels,
on Saturday, .March elet, with' Rev.
C. Lewis officiating when Ann
J;dabell, daughter of Mr. and. Mrs,
Wm. Me.Quarrie was united in mar-
riage to Louis Wm. Hoy, son of Mr.
and Mrs, Wan. Hoy, Clinton. The
bride looked charming in a 'street
length dress of 'bine crepe with blue
accessories.. iShe wore a corsage of
pink Dreaan roses. Miss Wilma.
.Lowrie as attendant, wore beige and
brown suit with brown accessories.
Alex. IVIeMichael of Clinton attended
the groom. " Following the ceremony
the young couple left on a short
honeymoon. For travelling the Thride
were a beige. coat with black amces-

St, Jahns Guild
The March meeting of the Ladies',
Guild was held at the home of Mrs.
Whittard with a good .attendance,
The president opened the ,meeting
with prayer. The minutes of the
February sheeting were read, also a
letter troin the ladies of Walton and
the roll call. A letter asking' the
St, John's Church to have the String
Deanery.. meeting, This was •die-
eus.sed and decided to have 'it in
Brussels. Mr, Davis closed the
meeting with prayer. Mrs: Whit-
tard'served a lovely tea and a social
hour spent,
Properties Change Ownership
Mr. Robert Warwick has purchas-
ed the property of the late Mrs. Jos.
Querin.
The Kelly property, which has
been vacant ,since .the death of. the
late Mrs. Marla 'Campbell,, a couple
of years ago, has been sold to F. M,
Semis.
Mrs: C. Dahl has bought the
property of the late Mr. .and Mas•,
los. Long on .155111 Street and ' the
Ziegler house has been purchased by •

Silver Anniversary
An'enjoyable time was spent in the
town hall Thursday evening when
Mr and Mrs. Alexander Brewer of
4th Concession of Morris township
celebrated their twenty-fifth anni-
versary, Jack Lowe read " the ad-
dress to which Mr, and Mrs. Brewer
responded, thanking all for their
lovely gifts.. The gifts were many
and 'beautiful. and ,spoke of the high
estem in which Mr. and Mrs. Brewer
are held in this community. Dancing
was enjoyed, the music /being suP-
ulieri by local musicians. A generous
Inn& was served, the wedding -cake
beim,- missed by the bride and groom
of 20 years ago.
At the Churches
'Services In Melville Presbyterian
church -no Sunday were cono„nterl by
the minister, Rev. S. Kerr. The Sun-
day school and Bible ,class were
held at 10:00' am. The text for the
morning service was. "Laying Good
Foundations," Subject for -.thee even-
ing text was.'"Taking Hold of Your-
self," An anthem was rendered at
the morning service.
Services in the Malted church on
Sunday were conducted by the pas-
tor, Rev. C. L.'Lewis. Me morning
service was. held at 10:30 am.. the
text being "Evading Responsibility,'
.At 11:30 Chinch school and Bible
class were held. The text for the
evening service et 7:00 .reolocic was
"The 'Chronicle Voice of An Echo."
St, John's Anglican Church. morn-
ing service was, conducted by Rev
F. W.. Davis' of Atwood.

Early Sunday morning March 15,
there passed away at her moans, .in
Ethel, Hannah Hall, beloved wife' of
George Ec9mnier and daughter, of the
late William Hall and Mary AAA
Rose; She was Wpm- on Feb, 10,
1868 at the Hall homestead, on the
eight concession of Grey.
Forty-eight years ago last May 24,
she ,was united in marriage with
•George Eckmier of, Ethel. They lo-
cated In Jamestown where Mr. Eck-
mier .conducted a successful `black-
smith business - for • . thirty years.
Nineteen years' ago they, returned to'
Ethel, buying her father's former
home in the village, they have ' re-
sided .here ever since:
She hacl been a -highly esteemea
member, of the Methodist '0011.0h
since girlhood and later of the 'Unit-
ed Ohurch of Canada, While at.
Jamestown; she was. deeply interest-
ed, in .all activities at Victoria Hall. '
For 'many, years, 'both at. Jamestown
and Ethel she taught classes of
of yountg ladies; in the Sunday School
She was a great lover of music, a
wonderful lnoine faker and was very
hospitable to her auany friends, She
loved her garden and was longing
tor the return' of .Spring flowers and
,birds, 'She was, a good, loving, faith
fol wife and mother; a true friend,
and splendid citizen.
