service in the religious, cultural and
sooial life of this community le
being celebrated by Brussels 'United
Churoh, On..Shmday morning many
former members and Friends of
' the congregetion exohan+ged mem-
ories, as they met for the service
in charge of Rev. H. ,T. Mahoney of
Glencoe who ministered from 1986 to
1941.
A large white basket with 75 deep
red roees graced the communion
table. This was the gift. of five
grandchildren of the late Mr. and
Mrs, Richard Leat.herd11le in mem-
ory of their grandparents. A beauti-
fully decorated three-tier biadhklhy
rake with a. tiny replica of a church
on top complete. with a tower and
ball, and surrounded by 75 candles,
was also a centre of attraction.
At '.he close of the service, Rev.
Anhl.remw Lane introduced Mrs. Wil-
liam Stephenson, who is 94 years of ,
age and the oldest member of the
congregation. Wtlh a beribboned sil-
ver knife, she cut the birthday cake,

of visiting. Tea was poured at a

Serve Turkey Supper
The social event of the celebration
was a turkey dinner, held on Mon-
day night. A concert 'followed with
Mrs. Nona (Maunders) Wieduttes of
Detroit, as the guest artist. Mrs.
Wiedut4es is also a former member
of the congregation.

On Friday evening bast about 40
relatives and friends gathered at
the home of Mr. and Mrs Claire Long,
it being the 25111 anniversary of
their wedding. They were taken very
1110011 by surprise, but fullly enjoy-
ed the lovely evening that had been
so secretly planned for them. They
were presented with lovely gifts of
silverware.
The evening was spent in playing
cards after which a delicious lunch
was served.
