The United Church
The sermon in the United Church
nn Sunday morning, April 22, was
a plea fnr enthusiastic discipleship
'n the middle years of life. It was
hood on the e scripture test, "0 Lord,
revive Thy work 1n the midst of the
years; in the midst of the years
orale it known." The greatest
danger of the middle years, the
minister said, was the swamping
of idealism, faith and the sense
of the eternal by avarice and mat,
erialism, "The. Lord is My Rock,"
by Ellen J. Lorenz. was the morning
anbh e10.
"Making the Church a praise in
the earth," was the evening theme.
The eiloid sang, "Crown Him Ring
of Kingc," by Ira Ti. Billson.

The Voice Of Temperance ---
That
That a state of emergency is de-
veloping in this country there can
hardly be any doubt, There are
building restrictions; nails are in
short supply—so is cement. All our
resources are being taxed in order
that Canada may be ready if and
when the crisis bdeaks. At such a
•ilne the people of Ontario cannot
lfferd to spend $260,n00.000 a year
en strong dr:alt. At such a time the
Ontario Government should not be
opening new liquor outlets. At such
e time the motto of this country
should be "discipline" and not "ire
diligence." At such a time there is
greater need for restrictions in drink-
i0g than in building. A traitor is one
