James Burgess
A victim of arthritic for the past
two years, James Surges, 79, pass-
ed away at his late home here on
Saturday, He was. born in Brussels,
son of Mr. and Mrs. Samuel H.
Burgess and spent his entire life
in' this area where he engaged in
farming. His wife. Mary Helen
Taman of Rlylth, died a few years
ago. A fancily of two sons, Samuel
of Blyth, and William of Godericdt;
and five clanghtems, Mrs. 0. (Hazel)
Sproule, Ridgetown; Mrs. Fred
(Lillian) Cox, Brussels; Mrs. Ed-
ward (Theresa) Murray, Kings-
ton; Mrs. Earl (Thelma) Brodeur,
Toronto; and Greta at home, Sur.
vive. One daughter, Mrs. Huggh
(Mary) Lemont has Bled, One
brother, Andrew Burgess, lives in
Oklahoma. Mr, Burgess was a
fa.ithfnl member of Melville Pres-
byterian Church, He had a record
of 43 years of service in the East
Harron Aevicnitural Society, 17 of
them as president. Funeral service
was held on Monday afternoon from
his late home with Rev. Alex Simi).

Workncan, R. J. Bowman, J. Mitchell.
Wm, Gillespie, D. M. MafTavish and
Walter Scott. interment in Brus-
sels cemetery.

Mrs. Ezra Welsh
There passed away at her late
residence on the 5th line of Morris,
Friday, March 1613, Mrs. Ezra
Welsh in her 59th year. She was
born in Wallace Township, where
she married Mr. Welsh living there
for sometime. They moved to Gray
township, later to Morris, where they
have lived for the past fifteen years.
She was a lifelong member of the
United Chmrch, aLeo a member of the
Ladies' Auxiliary to Canadian Legion.
Being of a pleasant disposition she
was loved by all who knew her.

many beautiful flower tributes re.

WOMEN'S INSTITUTE LEADERS
TRAINING COURSE HELD
Winghnm - "It's great to he a
Canadian,' was the slogan of the
two-day leaders' training school for
North Huron held in Wingham 'Town
Hall last week. The ecurse was
_held for Women's Institute group
leaders in this section or the county,
various Auhjeets relating to home
end community life were discussed.
Attending Friday's• session were
Miss Jean Scott, bluron County
home poonnmiet. Chief Sanitation
Inspector Ray Gibson of the Huron
health unit, and Miss Nora Cun-
ningham, head nurse for Huron,
in her talk to the training school,
Miss Cunningham discussed some
of the qualifications of a first aider.
Mr. Gibbons showed pictures and
discussed sanitation pertaining to
milk, water, and proper sewage dis-
posal.

Gerrie, Walton, Bluecale, Ethel,
Mdleswcrth, and Brussels,

included, Wilda Breckenridge, Blue -
