W. J. BARTLIFF
DIES SUDDENLY

W. J. Harry Bartliff, William St„
Clinton, died suddenly at his home
Friday morning. Although he took
ill Thnrelay, his death was unexpeet-
ed and carne as a great shock to his ,
many friends throughout the entire
district,
Born in Goderleh, a son of the
late Mr. and Mrs. Charles Bartliff,
Mr. Bartliff came to Clinton 111
1902, In September of that year he ,
opened a restaurant and bake ehop
on Albert St., and on Wednesday had
been at his shop.
Possessed of a pleasant dispoei-
tion and an understanding nature. i
Mr. Bartliff made and held a host
of friends not only in Clinton. but
throughout Western Ontario. He
was a charter member of the Cl•in•
ton Lions Club, a member of the
local Chamber of Commerce and
of the Odd Fellows Lodge. He was I
known for his keen interest in eports
of all types. He was a member of i
St. Paul's Church of England,
On September 24, I907, he was
united in marriage to Vinie Car-
diff. Brussels, who eutvives him,
along with three sons, Elliott,
Bruce and Douglas, who were in
business with him: one daughter,
Mrs. Alfred (Dorothy) Crozier
Clinton; three sisters. 'Miss Annie
Taartl'ff. P,tinton, Mrs. Lyle. Pinner.
tlshawe. Mrs. Jewel Stevens. Tor-
onto and four grandchildren.
The fitneral service was held from
the Rall end Well funeral home,
Clinton, on eennday at 2.30 p, m.
Per. R. 3T. P. Bflteei. of St. Panes
Chnr•eb condoned, the serviee. Inter-
ment was In Clinton Cemetery.
The W. T. meeting will he held on
Tuesday, Feb. 20th at 2.30 P. m, at
the home of Mrs. Wm, Kelly, with
Mrs. R. Procter as convenor. Roll
call to be answered by my favorite
sport. Mrs, Rev. Roberts is expected
10 be present and address the ladies,
Miss Elaine Bolt will supply the
mete. Refreshment committee, Mrs.
