The United Church
The Church is "God's Building,"
was the subject of the morning
meditation in the United Church on
Sunday, Feb. 411, "Selling Our Birth-
right", was the theme at evening
worship. The Scripture basis of
these sermons were, "Ye are God's
Building, Know ye nit that ye are the
Temple of God, and that the Spirit
of God davelleth in you. " 'Then
Jacob ga've Esau bread and pottage
of lentils and he did sat. and drink,
and rose trP, and went his wk., thus
Esau despised his birthright.
The anthems were, "We Would
See Jesus," by E. K. Hayser and
"Christ is My Pilot," by Philip A.

The W. M. S. of Melville Church
met in fhe school room of the church
on Friday Feb. 2nd, The President,
opened the meeting with a reading
entitled, "Advance." _4, hymn was
sung. The Scripture reading was
taken by Mrs. H. B. Allen, followed
with prayer by MTS. N. H. Cardiff
Another hymn was sung and the
.secretary's and treasurer's reports
read and adopted. The roll call was
responclel to by naming a "Bible
Character and Identification.'" Mrs.
Jas. S. Armstrong took chapter 1 of
the Study Book for this year, "Our
Share in the World Mission" and
pointed ant very clearly the share of
each and every inclivIduel who
would Call themselves. Church
Members, Mrs, Geo. Evans, gave

was closed by singing a hymn and
the Benediction.

A highly esteemed resident of
Brussels passed away suddenly at
his home on Thursday, Feb, 1st £04'
lowing a heart attack. He had been
In his usual ,health until the time
of the attack and had Just returned
from a walk down town when strick-
en and passed away within a few
minutes.
Mr. Keys was born on the Sth
con. of Grey township on Anvil 2nd,
1873. He was on -e or a family 01
eight, Son or the late Henry and
'Mary Jane Main:nein Keys. He was
married on Dec, 271h, DOD in
Elizabeth Fulton who survives, also
two sons and one daughter. Harold
of Grey, Sallie$ 01 McKillop, Mrs.
Alvin (Edith) Pride, Waterloo,
eleven grand Children and one great.
grand child, also one sister Mrs,
Mayme Speiran, Brussel, one
brother Frank of Milestone, Sask.
Three sisters and two brothers pre-
deceased him.
Ho homesteaded in the 'West for
six years and then farmed in
Grey township until Oat. 1949, When
he and Mrs. Keys refired to live in
Brussels. He was a member 00 Grey
township council for 2 years and
reeve for 9 years. He was a faith-
ful member of the Presbyterian
Church, also a member of Rt. Sohn's
Lodge A. P. and A. M. 294.
The funeral was held on MondaY.,
Feb, 5011. from his late residence
with Rev, Alex I. Simpson, Tees -

A quiet wedding was solemnized
in the United Church, parsonage
Gerrie. on Jan. 27th, 1951, When
Magaree Isabel, youngest daughter
or Mr. and Mrs. C. S. VanNorman,
Brussels, was united in marriage
to Edward Wlilam Newton, son or
Mr. and Mrs. R. Newton, Wroxeter.
Rev, Robert J. Watt, officiated. The
bride's attendant was Miss Shirley
Newton and best man Thain
Neu -ton. Thr couple will reside In
Brussels.

Cancellation of passenger and
xpvess train service on the Pal-
inereton - Kincardine line is being
promised as au economy measure
by the Canadian :National Railways.

the Reeve and Council of Brussels;
and Reeve H. johnston of Morris,
here on 'Monday night to discuss the
proposed plan.
