Fellowship With Others Christians Arts 11:11-18t I'hilippian, 2:1-5 Memory Selection: Look not every titan on itis own things, but. - every matt also no the things of others. Let this mind be in you which was also fn Christ Jesus: \\'ltv being in 'the forst 'of 'God, thought it not robbery to be • equal with . God. Pltilippialts 2:4.ti. . One is not easily freed from the teachings 'of childhood and youth. When Peter- became a Christian" he did not immediately grasp tate truth that the wall of partition between Jew and Gentile was broken. How- ever, his prejudice gave way when Cod spoke' to 71i111 thidugli a vision. He went to a Gentile home and preached the Gospel. He saw the gift of the Holy Spirit given to them as to the Jews in the be- ginning, He knew then that the Gospel of Jesus Christ was for all sten. There is a false toleration. Some people in their endeavour to -hold fellowship with others will sacri- fice principles. Some will set aside the precious teachings of the inspiration of the scriptures, the virgin birth, atonement through the death of Jesus Christ and the resur- rection in order not to mar tate so- called fellowship. We must be clear on the fundamentals, We must -sound them forth. We must not tolerate sin. On the other hand we must be courteous and kind to the unbeliever. Only thus may we point him to Jesus Christ. Those who arc in Christ Jesus compose the world's most intense and glorious fellowship, There are no color or creedal barriers, Those who have His love, love one an- other and are endeavouring to bring the world to know that love. It is this love and passion to help others that identifies us as belong- ing to Christ. All may freely be- come partakers of this heavenly fellowship. HRONICLES INGERFARM cy Gwgvtidotirve ID Ctexkc We have had another week of nice warns weather; another re- prieve from winter; another chance to get done those pre -winter jobs which we had not done—and we really made good use- of this very welcome tints -extension. Partner was busy re -papering part of the kitchen roof—the last big rain con- vinced us we )fall to do something or move out. One time it rained and there wasn't a leak—next time we hardly knew whether we were indoors or out. And if there is any- thing more depressing than a leaky roof I don't !want to hear about it. Variations in tone depend- ing upon the type of pan set to catch the drips; while a dull "splosh" indicated new drips drop- ping straight to the floor ... run, quick—get another pant But no}v we hope our roof troubles are over —for a year or two at any rate, 44 While Partner was doing the roof I got busy taking off screens and cleaning the outside of the windows. I never like that job. because balancing myself ort a stepladder is not one of my out- standing accomplishments. I much prefer to have both feet on the ground' wlr"eit i' a n working: rt even bothers me to see othef people on ladders so I wasn't very happy when,,Partner was doing the roof, even 'though- it is quite low, Apd some people have no fear of high places at all. The other day I heard of a; little old lady over 80 Who driv1s, her family almost frantic because eif she gets. a chance she . will clean the bedroont windows outside by throwing up the lower sash and sitting on the window -sill to do the job. That little lady evidently doesn't suffer from acro- phobia. My way of dealing with up- stair windows is to remove part of the frame—frons the inside— lift out the sash and clean my windows in safety and comfort. There is usually more than one way of doing a job if you look for it. 4 * * \\'hick reminds ,me .. , we are wondering to what extent, if any, aeroplanes are used in making road surveys, Several times we have noticed planes flying low, hack and forth, following the course of tate surveyors' stakes for the proposed new highway from Montreal to Windsor, whirls, unless plans are changed, may run through our farm, Another day our !Mailman told us that he, also. had watched a plane; with what looked like a long cable hanging from it, follow- ing this same aerial route. It would be nice to know what it all means. But I suppose only the Depart- ment of Highways knows—and it won't tell! A: * e: Well, here is one persuu glad to pass on iufortnation—for what it is worth. The other day, rather than fetch soap and water to wash the outside of the front door, l used what I had in my hand—a rag soaked with furniture creast and polish, The result was unbelievable —the door looked as if it had been freshly painted, "It won't last—it will soon go dull again," I said to thyself, But it didn't—it Is still bright and clean—and I see no teasou now why it shouldn't stay that way, Funny, the things one discovers by ;ccct1icul, And now 1.6 change the subject. I must confess to having wasted a lot of time—roasted it in :reading a "hest seller," The boost was "Star Money" by hatlifeen Winsor—the sante author who wrote 'Forever Amber,' The pity of it because so much of the writing is clever one feels that the author is capable of - writing a good novel if she set tier mind to it. As to that, I quite enjoyed the historical background in her previous novel. Bttt "Star Money" has little to commend it as it is mainly a recital of divorces and illicit love affairs. One has the feeling it is a novel based on the findings of the Kinsey report. When there is still so much in the world that is good and fine why should any novelist—and a woman at that—degrade herself by writing such a book? One is thank- ful there are still novelists like Elizabeth Goudgc who can write for our pleasure such a delightful book as "Gentian Hill." But, sonic of you may argue, this is an age of realism. Granted, but surely that which is beautiful and beneficient is just as realistic as the sordid and sensual side of hu- man nature. Remember those lines: "Two men looked out from prison bars One saw mud, the other stars.." Miss Winsor apparently prefers the mud and bikes to have her readers wallow in it with her, Again you may argue—"If you didn't like the book why did you read it?" For the simple reason one can hardly give an opinion about any book without knowing its content. The book had one saving grace. Psychologically the way in which the heroine reacted to sud- denly acquired fame and fortune was interesting and well portrayed. Easier Way Of Khittinj Sleeves I1 you ,ud knitting smoother and faster than' ;purling, here's how you 'can zip up or down that 18 -inch on sleeves r'hen using the• stock- - inette or another .similar• stitch, if your directions begin with the , cuff, simply use four double -pointed r.eedlestinsteed of -two single -point- ,. ed ones for .the K2, P2 routine. Then continue up the sleeve with four needles, knitting every row, rather than knitting one row and purling back - Adding for fullness at the elbow is just as easy as if you were using two needles. Just increase on the first or second stitch of number 1 needle and the last or next -to -last stitch of number 3. Of course, when you reach the required number of inches and be- gin to shape the armhole, you use single -pointed ones. Some directions for sleeves start by licking up stitches along the armhole on the body of the gar- ment. Using this method you can knit the entire sleeve right down to the cuff. No one will have to "needle" 3011 into using this ntethc1. Try it and sec!
