,The regular meeting of the W. A.
of Walton United Church was held
in the church on Oct. 18th. Mrs. W.
J. Bennett, the President, opened
the meeting by singing hymn. 517,
followed by prayer. The minutes of
Sept. meeting were read and ap-
proveid. Toe treasurer restarted
$365,16 on hand, A letter of thanks
'Was read from Grace United Church
flood committee in Winnipeg to the
W. A, for bale of quilts and blankets.
The W. A.'bo cater to a banquet for
Brussels Liens Club in November.
Several items of business were
brought before the meeting and
motion passed. "Thank You" Garde
were received from the sick. The
meeting closed with the Mizpah
benediction,

The 8th Morris Group under the
ieadership of Mrs. A. McCall then
had charge of the meeting, The
program for this meeting was en-
titled, "The United Church lte-Enters
japan Through Re -enforcements."
She was assisted by several mem-
bers of the group, throughout the
program. ,The meeting closed by
repeabing the Lord's Prayer in

esses for the October meeting of the
Triple Group of the Ladies Aid
Knox Presbyterian Church. Attend
ing were 27 members, f our Visitor

in sunshine boxes this year. The
auction sale of donated articles
realized $30. Mrs, McKinley. Mrs.
Harry Elliott and Mrs. Archie Par-
ker '" were named a nominating
committee for the election of offi-
cers at the November meeting. A
delicious lunch was served, Mrs. Al-
lan Mol1ercher;' Mrs, Sandy Me-
TCercher and Mrs. 1Laymond Hen-
ning assisted the hostesses,

nsumer -Credit Regulations
[,iFFECTiVE NOVEMBER 1, 1950,
instalment sales of consumer goods at retail and loans
for the purchase of consumer goods at retail will be
subject to new Consumer Credit Regulations. This
action has been taken under the Consumer Credit
(Temporary Provisions) Act as passed by Parliament.
The Regulations apply to every person engaged in the
business of selling consumer goods at retail on credit,
in the business of making loans, or otherwise engaged
in financing the purchase of consumer goods.
The following requirements will be in effect when retail
sales are made on the instalment plan on and after
November 1, 1950:
Minimum
down payment
Motor vehicles (e.g. passen-
ger automobiles and
motorcycles) 331/3% 18 months
Maximum
time to pay
All other consumer goods. 20% 18 months.
In no case shall the down peryment be Tess than
$5.00.
INSTALMENT PAYMENTS are to be In regular, approximately
equal, amounts of not less than $5.00 monthly or $1.25 weekly.
Instalment payments may be varied to meet the circumstances of
persons such as farmers and commercial fishermen whose incomes
are subject to seasonal fluctuations.
Similar terms apply to loons granted by banks or loan companies
for the purpose of purchasing consumer goods at retail.
SPECIAL PROVISIONS ARE INCLUDED WITH REGARD TO
REVOLVING CREDIT ACCOUNTS, permanent budget accounts,
current budget accounts, and similar plans involving payment for
goods by regular instalments.
ORDINARY CHARGE ACCOUNTS ARE NOT DMCVLY
AFFECTED by the present Regulations, but steps will be taken, If
neceuory, to see that charge accounts are not used to evade the
regulations relating to instalment sales.
THE REGULA now REQUIRE SELLERS, LENDERE AND RNANCE
COMPANMnowS to maintain records of trotssoctions, to make them
available for inspection, and 10 furnish information on request to
authorised representatives of the Government of Canada.
