Funeral services for William S.
Hogg, who died at his home in Mc-
Killop
c .Killop Township, three clays after
suffering a stroke, were conducted
on Monday afternoon at the family
residence, by the Rev. D, Glenn
Campbell, and intermentmade in
Maitland Bank Cemetery.
Mr. Hogg had been an elder In
First Presbyterian Church, Seaforth,
for many years. -
Surviving besides hist wife, are
two saws. James, at home; Frank,
Woodstock; two daughters, Mr's.
Paul Brand, Toronto; Janet, at
home; and one brother, George,
McKillop TownshiP.

The Ladies' Guild of St. John's
held their monthly meeting on Tues-
day, Ana. Sth, at the home of the
president, Mrs. G. Davis, with a
good attendance The meeting open-
ed with singing of the hymn "Seen,
Lover of my *mil." followed by a
prayer service: all taking part. The
scripture lesson was read by Mrs. A.
Morrow. Minutes of the previous
meeting were given by Mrs. Wm,
Fischer. Does and cent -a -day were
collected. The Guild has decided

Fall Fair this year. A committee
to be named at the next meeting.
A hmmorone reading, entitled "Before
the Meeting.' was given by Mrs,
Davis. also a few scraps, from
"Ton's Scrapbook," Meeting closed
with prayer. Lunch was served by
the hostess, assisted by Mrs. H, Fast
and Mrs. B. Whittard,
Library Notes
The library will be closed from
August 21 to Sept. 4th inclusive,
while the librarian is on vacation.
MIXED JITNEY
Local Bowlers held a Mixed Jitney
here on Monday evening, with about
twenty-six bowlers present. The
prizes were won by ladies Mrs. D. A.
Rano let; Mrs, Calvin Kreuter 2nd.

Ted :Mich 011 is a member of the
first party of recruits from Western
Ontario who have joined the new
Canadian bridgarle for service with
the United Nation,
Ted is the son of former Brussels
residents, l'1r. and Mrs. Frank 'Mit-
chell, now of Wroxeter vicinty, and
is a brother of Mrs. Rae Bronson of
Brussels. T -Te went to school hero and
is well known among the young
people of the distt'iet He was in the
army during World War TT.
As far as is known by this paper
Ted is the first from this community
to answer the call for a new Cam
adian brigade destined for service
witil the limited Natiny's in Korea, or
elsewhere. He is now in training
at Petawawa-.
