Anniversary Services At
St. John's Anglican Church
Sunday, July. 9th, was an impor-
tant milestone in the history and
life of St. John's Church, Brussels.
It was the first anniversary of the
new reconstructed building, which
replaced the old one destroyed by
fire two and a half years ago, and the
ninetieth of the founding of the
Parish; although occasional services
were held previous to that time.
The day was fine, and good con-
gregations were present at both
the morning and evening services,
The Rev. J. H. Kerr, rector was
in charge of the servuce and was
assisted by the Rev. M. F. Oldham of
Camden East and recent rector of
this parish, who was also the Special
preacher for the day,
The choir under the leadership of
Miss C. FIingston, with lams. Dr.
Hamilton as organist, sang an an-
them, "Come Thqu Holy Spirit" and .
Mrs. Bred.dn of Toronto, sang a sod
Botb these numbers were very mite
appreciated.
The Rev Oldham, took as h
subject for the morning "Mak
Christ King." He pointed out wha
doing this would mean in ourselves.
in our homes, hi our ohlurches, and
in our communities—the truly suc-
cessful 1t2e.
In the evening he based his ser
mon on the text, "Rightonsness
exalteth 0 nation but sin le a re-
proach to any people," Proverbs
14:34.
MT. Oldham expressed the deep
Pleasure which he felt at being back
in the pulpit of St. John's again and
in meeting old friends again. Mrs.
Oldham who still occupies a warm
place in the hearts of many people
here was present at both services.
