To Be Reduced
At a recent meeting of Lite Wing -
Liam District High School Area,
further changes in the fate of
Brussels Continuation School were
disclosed. During 1949.50, grades
eleven, twelve and thirteen have
attended Wingham High School,
travelling daily by school hue, Be-
ginnig the fall term, Grade ten
will also lie included, leaving only
Oracle nine here.
in a survey of the pupils of the
present grade nine eighty per cent
Indicated their desire to take a
commercial course. A new provin-
cial regulation says that pupils
wishing to take commericial most
begin It in Grade 10. Since Brussels
has no facilities for teaching a

of James McVicar, of Campbellton,

The Strachana came from Saddle
in Perthshire. The first to come to
Canada was Elizabeth McAllister,
widow of Dugald Straelian, who
brought her five boys, and two
girls, Elizabeth and Margaret. to
Puslinch, near Galt, in 1845. They
were six weeks in crossing the
ocean. Each of the Strachan fami-
lies had a Dugald and en Elizabeth,

Elizabeth of the widow's family

600 sires fur family homesteads,
and built a hut. After clearing a
piece of land, they built a log house
and log barn.

the log barn and later in the new
barn. Large congregations attend-
ed services in the new house built
in the middle eighties. Ti was there
that two future ministers received
some training — Rev. John Strachan
late of Owen Sound and St Marys,
and Robert Moffatt, missionary to
India. Tn 1901. Sunday School was
removed from a private house to
Victoria T -Tall, Jamestown, with
James Strachan first superinten-
dent.
