OF AGRICULTURE
The campaign is on again to have
all cattle in this County sprayed for
the eradication of the Warble Fly.
This work has achieved favourable
results in the past few years. It is
to be hoped all townships will see fit
to continue spraying the cattle this
year.
Township Federations are behind
this work and they should see that
the Petition is circulated in plenty
of time to get the neeessarry 66% of
all the cattle owners signed up. It is
BRUSSELS. ON'I
then up to your township council to
pass a By -Law and make arrange-
ments to have the spraying carried
on and a competent inspector pro-
vided.
Some townships circulated the
petition last year and got as high
as 97% of the cattle owners approval.

Girl Guides
Enjoy Supper
A reguar meeting of the Girl
Guides was preceded by a pot -luck
supper served in the library base-
ment on last Wednesday evening.
Following this pleasant event the
Guides had invited members of the
local association to spend the even-
ing with them when an interesting
program of work was given. The
usual opening ceremony was used,
including the Guides' hymn, prayer
and the saluting of the flag.
Sheila Alderson and Audrey Dav-
idson demonstrated the semaphore
with gloria Clarke calling the let-
ters. The program also included:
Piano solo, Lavair McNair; demon-
stration of first aid, Winnifred Ray-
mond, Shirley Stevenson; story,
Sheila Porter; piano solo, Audrey
Davidson; vocal ,duet, Agnes Lane
and Jane Rann; vocal duet, Agnes
Lane and Margaret McCutcheon.
Mary Agnes Higgins gave an inter-
{ esting account of her week spent
at Kitchigemi Guide camp last sum-
mer and passed pictures showing
camp activities.
Mrs. William Leach, who has been
leader of the local Guide troupe, has
been appointed a commisioner.
This necessitates giving her leader-
ship to Donna C•udmore, who will be
assisted by Margaret Speir, Mrs.

thanks Mrs. Leach spoke of the
progress made by the Girl Guide
movement since It was organized
in Brusselss twoyears ago, thanked
the Guides for enthusiastic study
and asked the same enthusiasm
under the new leader.
Donna. Cud -more expressed appre-
ciation at the interest of mothers
and friends, and foliowing the
closing invited the guests to re-
main for tea and cookies. Many
ccmpiimentary comments were
made by the visitors for the dem-
onstration of Girl Guide work,

The 06th Annual Meeting of the
Policy Holders of the Elma Farmers
Fite Insurance was held in the For-
esters Hall in Atwood on Feb. 7th.
1950, at two o'clock.
The oompany hada had a success-
ful year showing an increase in the
number of policies and the amount
of insurance at risk as well as an
increase in the surplus account.
Messrs. Warren Morrison, Wm. Little
and Herbert Berlett were re-elected
as dh'eotors.
The following officers were elected
for 1950. President Warren Morrison,

J. A. McBain was re-engaged as
