Sometimes I'd dream of the day when I'd have time and leisure to do all the things I wanted to do, but I had to admit I wasn't doing anything about it except dream. The fire was discovered leas than half an hour after the hardware stare had been looked up for the night, but in that space of time had gained such headway among combustible sections of the hard- ware store stock that flames swept through the basement and both of the two storeys of the building. The walls were left standing, but most of the contents 1 of the building were either burned or damaged by smoke and water, The fire was discovered at 6:45 p.m. by Mayor J. 15, Beating and William D. Smith. At the time they had just left Beating's drug etore and Smith's grocery on the west side of Main st., and were standing talking on the sidewalk, when they saw smoke come out from under the Paves of the hard - were store building on the opposite side of the street.
