Child Poisoned By Pills
Little Susan Coleman, year and a
half old daughter of Mr. and Mrs.
Ken, Coleman, came home Saturday
from Wingham hospital. Susan was
rushed to the hospital by Dr. R. W.
Stephens when she went into a
coma after taking some pain pills
she had found in her home on
Thursday. Susan hacl a close call
hut has completely recovered.

Amateur Contest
Two duet teams captured first and
second places at the Amateur Night
in Brussels Town Hall last Prickly
night, sponsored by the local Lions
Club
Misses Ruth Sirilayn and Dorothy
Dennis, Gatlshill, with their fine
unaccompanied duet "Night Song"
won top honours. Donald and T3rure
Edgar, Brussels, won second prize
with their duet "Forever,"
L. E- Cardiff, M.P„ opened the
evening with brief remarks and
rolled on Lion Jas. Armstrong to
preside as master of ceremonies.
Over twenty amateur artists from
Blyth, Ethel, Walton, Wingham,
Londeshorn, Toronto, Gndshill. and
Brussels competed for the generous
Prizes and the judges fonntt 11

five judges seated throughout the
audience were, Mrs, Wardtaw, Ethel;
Mrs. McNaughton; Wroxeter and
'.Messrs. K. Edger, ' Wroxeter; R.
Pauli, ' Brussels and Sherman of
Niagara Falls.

Mr. Joseph Brewer has made an agree-
ment to purchase the coal business from
D. lir. and J. M. McDonald, taking possession
Jan. lst, 1950.
Both Mr. and Mrs. ,Brewer are being em-
ployed with McDonald's with the idea of
learning the business, thus enabling them
to give the public the best courteous service
possible.
Jack McDonald will continue to carry
on with the lumber and building supplies
and both businesses will be operated from
the same office with Mrs. Brewer book-
keeping for both firms.
